One of the ironic benefits of having been both a plaintiff and a defendant in criminal and civil proceedings is that I understand courtroom procedure well. Bringing up Meredith’s relationship from eight years ago won’t benefit Aidan because it reads as a distraction rather than a defense. Judges tend to recognize when irrelevant history is being used to deflect from present conduct. I’m hopeful the court sees through that and Meredith prevails. No one should be tormented or humiliated for choosing to end a relationship. I’m proud of her for standing her ground, and I hope her case helps set a meaningful precedent for others in similar situations.
