JUST IN: Opposition Alliance launched in Georgia. Today, Georgian democratic parties form Oppostion Alliance and agree on a joint strategy for victory, we well as rules of cooperation. The Alliance aims to liberate Georgia from the autocratic regime of Bidzina Ivanishvili, to restore the country’s Euro-Atlantic course and, therefore, to save Georgia’s national independence and statehood. The member parties of the Alliance are: Ahali, Girchi – More Freedom, Droa, European Georgia, National Democratic Party, United National Movement, Freedom Square, Strategy Agmashenebeli, and the Federalists. The Opposition Alliance agreed that there’s an ongoing existential struggle over Georgia’s historical and civilizational choice, which will decide which side of the “Iron Curtain” the Georgian people will find themselves on for the next decades. The strategic goal of the Opposition Alliance is to mobilize the vast majority of society for peaceful protest and dismantling the regime. The main principles of the agreement are: • Unity without uniformity: the parties maintain their ideological identity, but agree on a unified communication and protest strategy; • Democratic alternative: the Alliance agrees that only a democratic alternative focused on the interests of citizens will defeat the autocratic regime; • Ways to achieve the goal: expand the protest, strengthen international pressure and offer a democratic, credible alternative to the Georgian people; • Code of conduct and responsibility: the most important part of the document is the code of conduct, which regulates the rules of cooperation between the signatory parties to ensure strong unity; The parties recognize each other as equal partners and agree that coordinated action to achieve a common goal is a strategic necessity. The Opposition Alliance swears to fight until the end — until the release of political prisoners and the achievement of free and fair elections. "A recent BBC investigation has recently presented serious evidence that the Georgian Dream (GD) illegitimate government used prohibited chemical substances during its violent dispersal of peaceful protests back in 2024. If confirmed, this would constitute a severe violation of international norms, human rights obligations, and Georgia’s commitments under international conventions. In a country where all state institutions are subordinated to a single political party, an impartial internal investigation is unrealistic. The authorities have shown no intention to ensure transparency or invite international scrutiny—steps that any accountable government would take in the face of such accusations. We, the democratic opposition parties in Georgia, call for an independent international inquiry, conducted by credible international bodies, to establish the facts, determine accountability, and prevent any further use of such substances. We also call on our international partners to consider introducing temporary restrictions on the transfer of any specialized equipment or means that could be used in violation of international standards and against the civilian population. Imposing such restrictions on the Georgian Dream's illegitimate government would serve as a preventive measure and would significantly reduce the risk of further grave human rights abuses. In coordination with democratic partners and experts, we are already working to document all relevant information and provide it to the appropriate international institutions. Our shared goal is clear: to prevent any continued or future use of these substances before a change of government occurs, should the findings of the BBC investigation be confirmed. Until full clarity is established, strong, coordinated international response is essential. Eight Georgian pro-democratic forces, united in their opposition to the Russian-backed regime, issued a joint statement rejecting participation in local elections and pledging to intensify their collective efforts to dismantle the undemocratic system and advance Georgia’s European and NATO integration. 🗝️ The Federalists held our founding convention yesterday! Due to absurd technical reasons, our first charter was rejected, making this our second convention. Giga Bokeria was elected as party chairman, and Tamar Chergoleishvili will lead our Tbilisi branch.

“Isako Devidze was detained on the street and beaten. The police took his phone and took him to his home for a a raid. During the raid, they insulted his mother. When Isako asked, "Why are you insulting her?" they beat him again. He was not given the opportunity to ask for help, to have a lawyer, friend, or neighbor present, or to call anyone so he wouldn't be alone. During the search, his mother was also not allowed into the house. In the police station, he was not officially questioned. Instead, for four hours, seven people accompanied him and "talked" to him,” Giorgi Noniashvili, one of the leaders of the @FederalistsGEO reports.
