I am excited to announce the launch of a new program designed to support early-stage founders and entrepreneurs looking to leverage the advances in AI. A technology revolution occurs perhaps once a decade, and the AI wave may be the most significant one in our lifetime. When I started my company, I was able to capitalize on the mobile revolution, which propelled my business forward and accelerated its growth. My research in both entrepreneurship and investing has definitively shown that timing is critical, and now is the time for AI companies to flourish. Why XLR8? I conducted a pilot of the program back in 2015-16, which was not only incredibly fun but also highly rewarding. I learned a great deal, but my main takeaway was that early-stage investing requires a hands-on approach, and the needs of a startup cannot be addressed in a brief program. My program differs in three core ways: - I'm focusing on smaller cohort sizes and longer engagement cycles to provide founders with the assistance they need to scale their companies. - I'm ensuring long-term incentive alignment among founders, mentors, investors, and operators. - I'm adopting a data-centric approach. Instead of trying to guess what makes companies successful, I aim to follow the data to identify and support founders in the most impactful ways. As with any endeavor, it takes a village, and I am incredibly grateful to my network for everything. As I launch this venture, I'd appreciate your help and wisdom both financially, through the amazing companies we discover together, and intellectually, as we assist those in reaching the next stage. Have you ever heard of a de-vesting schedule? I won't out the company that is doing this but it's the most ridiculous anti-employee hidden clause I've ever seen. After someone vests, you claw back vested equity. Yuck.
