JUST FYI Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple, repeatedly staged fake assassination attempts on himself as a deliberate tactic to manipulate his cult followers. Jones used these staged events habitually to maintain a siege mentality. They included phony gunfire during services, claims of attacks by outsiders (government, media, defectors, etc.), and at least one incident where he simulated being shot using fake blood and holes in his shirt. He then disappeared briefly, to "heal" himself. Make of that what you will, but that sure sounds familiar.

🇺🇸🧵NEW: Ron DeSantis wants to eliminate property taxes for Florida homeowners. Property taxes generate $55 to $60 billion a year in Florida. They pay for fire departments, police, EMS, and roughly half of public school funding. Eliminate them and that money has to come from somewhere. Independent analysts say the most likely replacement is a sales tax hike. Estimates run from the current 6 percent to as high as 12 percent.

I spoke with TSA officers in Arizona who were working without pay. They shared what they were going through, so I introduced a bill to protect the credit scores of federal workers during government shutdowns. They didn't choose to stop getting paid. Their credit score shouldn't suffer because of it.

Only known criminal record: minor traffic offenses. At what point does this stop being immigration enforcement and become inhumane?

You cannot claim the fighting is “paused” while American warships are stopping Iranian ships by force. Those two things cannot both be true. In the decades since this law was written, no president of either party has ever tried this argument. Not Reagan, either Bush, Clinton, Obama, Biden, or even Trump in his first term. Hegseth made it up because the deadline is tomorrow and he’s looking for an easy way out. Susan Collins crossed the aisle today and said the 60-day clock is “not a suggestion.
