You’ve got to admire the sheer chutzpah of African govts in using first world technology/techniques in taxation/extortion of the citizenry but applying 10th world standards in service delivery …🤔🤔😭😭😳😳😳

That SA discourse is similar to the Kenyan one where a whole University graduate is complaining about a Burundian who is in Kenya selling groundnuts. What exactly are you threatened about? Did you want to open a groundnuts selling business?

Scientists have discovered that ants, after collecting grains and seeds which they need to store for the winter, actually break them into halves before storing in their nests. This is because by breaking the seeds into half, it stops them from germinating despite the most perfect conditions. But here comes the even more interesting part. Scientists were stunned when they discovered that coriander seeds stored in the ant nest were always broken down into 4 pieces instead of 2 pieces. After some lab research, scientists discovered that a coriander seed is the only seed that can germinate even after being divided into two, but can not germinate after it’s divided into four parts.

We don’t mourn enough the descent of African politics. Ideology was once a big driver of politics especially in the years after independence. Since then, it has effectively entirely given way to goonism and wealth winning all.

@SirLV The odds are greater there given Mozambique is a former Portuguese colony with ties that exist to date. Watu wa huko huwa hawatoki sana because majority live beyond the poverty line. Kenyans na kupata makaratasi za huko wacha tu! Portugal isn’t as strict with its residency laws.

Universities in Africa have significantly contributed to the development of refugee studies as an academic and research field. My alma mater, Moi University, was among the first to establish a refugee studies centre (1991). However, the centre's current status is uncertain, and I'm curious to know the overall trend: have the number of such centres in Africa grown or declined? Kenya has no safe houses abroad—not even in high-risk countries where our migrant workers face the greatest vulnerabilities. Now picture this: for the Ksh 500M spent on Raila Odinga’s AUC bid, the country could have set up 10 to 15 safe houses in priority regions like the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and beyond. That’s what we call smart diplomacy—prioritising people over prestige.

This is why saying 'just work hard & leave Kenya' is counterintuitive. You or your family can leave alright, but those you leave behind will carry the burden. Your black tax will be long & your peace of mind chipped away by news of inefficiency. Kenya *must* work for all of us.
Sideways for attention, long way for results@Dialmaterialist

To be Kenyan is to mourn the life you could’ve had. Corruption steals time, it steals dreams, it steals life from both us and future generations.

This happening against the backdrop of reduced funding for refugee programs spells doom for the lives of many refugees in Kakuma. Moreover, the recent suspension of US BPRM programs complicates the already tough situation for millions of refugees across the region. Tough times!
Daily Nation@NationAfrica

Scores of refugees stormed Kakuma Town Friday to protest the scarcity of food and water. They are also against planned integration with the host community.

@JFCrisp @ochieng_ogutu There are no safeguards in place at the moment to ensure their successful integration. The government together with humanitarian and development partners have been pushing for the Shirika Plan - a blueprint for refugee integration but the governments capacity is in question.
