@maintishe This is true. People like to minimize the Yoruba culture of gratitude but it fosters harmony with others esp because we would always need other people in vulnerable moments. Yorubas say ‘when you thank someone for helping you yesterday, they’ll be encouraged to do more tomorrow.

one thing I love about being Yoruba is how appreciative we are. We even overdo the thank you. After my birthdays I’m always telling my friends, “Eku n’owo o, Ese ana”. I used to take offense when I feel like people aren’t grateful enough then I realized, it’s cultural.
