This beautiful sculpture was built by the Irish people in their own country to honor the American Choctaw Indian tribe. They were grateful because in 1847 the Choctaw people sent money to Ireland when they learned that Irish people were starving due to the potato famine.

“Respair” (noun): the return of hope after a period of despair. The OED retired this word years ago. It’s time to bring it back.

This is pretty cool: Watching Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile while on the actual Nile (seen in background).

This is the best article I’ve read recently about living with Lyme. Honest, informative, hopeful and also sad. It’s the last paragraph that really hits home for me. Thank you @meghanor keep fighting and keep writing!
The Atlantic@TheAtlantic

After years of being ill, @meghanor found herself with one of medicine’s most bitterly contested diagnoses—a baffling disease that has pitted experts against one another and against patients. on.theatln.tc/KcPaGL3

@AlastairMcA30 @danaparish Correct! it’s not a recognized diagnosis but it needs to be. Which is why your tweets are so detrimental to those fighting. Long term ABX are also damaging-right again! Which is why we need a cure, accurate testing and drs who actually listen and help. Shame that won’t be you.

Defies logic and the oath to Do No Harm to see another @IDSAInfo doc calling #ChronicLyme “totally fake,” especially in light of an 81-page bulletproof doc with references to 226 peer-reviewed medical journal articles documenting it.

@AlastairMcA30 @CureLymeNow @MoriartyLab @NorthPaisley @LymeScience @haiderwarraich @nytimes @cpgYALE @VPplenarysesh I think you know it’s very real. Please stop spreading propaganda. It only harms patients and prevents them from potentially getting the care they need. m.huffpost.com/us/entry/11291…

@jonronson Hi you need to have the tick tested for all co infections. You should be on antibiotics for certain. 100%. Not worth any risks. Feel free to DM me if you need any help.

@PearsLDA @jezard Hey! Given that, can I ask you a question - my tick was a deer tick. It has tested negative for Lyme and wasn't engorged (I think it was a male). Do you think the doctors are being overcautious to want me to get a Lyme blood test in a month?

I tell you, we are ALL going to get Lyme disease. All of us. Plus the doctor just called and said that although my tick tested negative for Lyme I still have to get a blood test in four weeks, which I think is them profiting from my increasingly obsessive fears of ill health.

@jonronson I have suffered from Lyme disease terribly, so no q’s about ticks. I had many questions about psychopaths and your book helped me a few years back. Thank you! My big question about Lyme is why the controversy? Why don’t people believe? Study? Understand? Help?? It’s a nightmare

When I was writing The Psychopath Test I asked on twitter if anyone had any questions about psychopaths and a million people did. The other day I asked if anyone had any questions about ticks: nothing! But I feel we are more likely to get Lyme than attacked by a psychopath.
