Grammar schools are moving their entrance exams from September to July to prevent pupils having to spend their summer holidays studying Schools believe the change will improve equality for all entrants. Children from more affluent families often get tutors over the summer months to prepare for the test, and this can leave less-wealthy families at a disadvantage. 🔗: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/05/2…

@bphillipsonMP @bphillipsonMP why on earth is this on offer to parents who are not working? Surely they are at home to look after their children?? Or are their children better off being raised by others? That certainly is the implication in my eyes.

Families have three days to save £7,500. Labour’s 30 hours of government-funded childcare kicks in next week, go to childcarechoices.gov.uk to see what support you’re entitled to. Our Plan for Change is putting money in parents’ pockets & giving children the best start in life.

@bphillipsonMP Oh @bphillipsonMP it really is a shame you are tiny brained. I’d welcome you into our school. Let’s educate you. You really need it! We’d break you in gently! Signed An exhausted, dedicated member of senior leadership in an outstanding school aka ‘dreamworld’

As the school year draws to a close, I want to say thank you to all of our incredible teachers, support staff, teaching assistants and school leaders. Your dedication to breaking the link between background and success for every child is at the heart of our Plan for Change.

Watching #ClarksonsFarm4 for the 3rd time and am still disgusted at the 2 pub “experts” - arrogant, overpaid and totally useless. I’m incredulous at their comments post-opening. However, the teacher who stepped in - fab! @JeremyClarkson nxt time, 📞 me! I’ve got previous & teach

@zarahussain999 @suzannejjj You don’t if you don’t pay tax. It’s really simple. We are a Christian country with a monarchy. If you don’t like it, you can leave 😁

People in my situation or similar struggle financially whilst Charles who they call king, Camilla, William, Kate Middleton and the Royal family ride around in carriages worth millions. We demand a vote about the future of the monarchy? #UK #Britain #NotMyKing

@BladeoftheS The RSPCA only operates in England and Wales, but I think fox hunting has been banned in Scotland for much longer than elsewhere in the UK. An absolutely barbaric practice by bloodthirsty toffs.

King Charles who loves killing foxes, birds, and badgers has been made Patron of the RSPCA. King Charles used his power to block a ban on Fox Hunting and to make sure it is the joke ban we currently have. RT if the RSPCA should remove him.

I've just sold my little holiday let but worked bloody hard running it for 8yrs @Keir_Starmer. I gave delight to hundreds of families doing so. At one point it was my only income. How dare you say I wasn't then a 'working person' just because the income involved a property?

.@oieacademy is celebrating its first ever 'good' Ofsted report! and the Principal, Mr Leach, spoke to the @BBCNews about how the academy "focused on improving school culture, we generated our values and we spoke about them constantly." A huge well done to everyone involved! 👏 Read more here ➡️ bbc.in/47ugiJ0

@Give_Me_TheJist @implausibleblog As a teacher, I am subject to a "slavery clause" stating that, on top of my contracted hours, I have to work an unlimited number of additional hours needed to finish my work, including weekends and holidays. No "off time" as such.

When politicians demonise migrants, the far right listen. When they say refugees should be “sent back to where they came from”, the far right listen. When they complain about asylum seekers staying in hotels, the far right listen. Let’s promote a message of unity instead. One that tackles the issues facing us all: the housing crisis, the collapse of our NHS and the disaster of privatisation. One that gives hope to all communities that a fairer society is possible. Stand up to racism. Defend refugees. Inspire belief in a better world. That is how you defeat the far right once and for all.

@Joanna__Hardy Except there’s no room in prisons for them. Hence letting prisoners out when they’ve served 40% not 50% of their time - they won’t have to serve long. And some may think it’s worth it!

Ask any lawyer who blearily pressed the cell buzzer at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court in the early hours of those hot, dangerous days in August 2011. There’s always a reckoning.

I have never forgotten telling man after man in cell after cell how long they would get in prison for the 2011 London riots. Once enthusiasm for lobbing bins at police has waned, once your pals have been arrested, once the booze & adrenaline subside - you realise. Then regret.
