You might not believe it, but two-time US Women's Champion and WGM Jennifer Yu has gained over +100 Elo in just the past six months, including +20 at each of her last four tournaments! 👏 She's up to a live rating of 2361 from a low of 2256 in October! 🤯 📷: Dariusz Gorzinski

Kazakistan uyruklu satranç oyuncusu Alua Nurman, maça başlamadan önce Magnus Carlsen ile selfie çekti. Bunun üzerine Magnus Carlsen rakibini hakeme şikayet ederek telefonunu aldırdı.

using ai to “enhance” video game graphics is the 2026 equivalent of tv’s and their motion smoothing or “soap opera” effect it looks like shit but you can’t quite pin point why

@LePump69 because this wasn't a FIDE tournament, it's a video where the players are clearly goofing around, Magnus is literally laying on a couch

@julesgambit wasn’t Carlsen also kicked out of a tourney for attire reason? why are we making it a gender issue when it’s enforced throughout.

@ChessbaseIndia @tschessindia What was the job of the arbiter, then? Going forward let’s not have arbiter at all. Let’s ask the opponent if he is willing to sacrifice his win into a draw as a “gem of gesture”? The arbiter needs to penalised and banned for a year.

Praggnanandhaa had 14 seconds on clock - he was thinking to promote his pawn to a Queen. Pragg got lost in thoughts and when the clock reached 1 second, he picked the rook (as he couldn't find the queen). As he saw he could lose on time, he paused the clock. While the arbiter came and the situation was discussed, Wesley quickly analyzed position and generously offered draw to Pragg! What a gem of a gesture from the American grandmaster. He could have easily bagged the full point asking Pragg to promote in one second and continue the game. It was very likely that Pragg would not have been able to promote the pawn and would have lost on time. But Wesley saw the position was around even and offered a draw! @BillyOc98401263 @kylesockwell @katieledecky Ledecky's not really doing her best times now. This record was the 1650y which is rarely contested. Her best 1500m time(the one that matters) was set at age 21. With age she holds up well, just as other women endurance swimmers are doing.(while she's declined in shorter races)

@Fetapult @kylesockwell @katieledecky Really? Well go back and study the great distant swimmers in history. Salnikov, Yang, Janet Evans, etc ... They didn't do best times in their late 20's. So it seems YOUR not familiar with distance swimming. Had to look up Salnikov huh?

@kylesockwell @katieledecky If an athlete from China or Russia was breaking world records at 28 yrs old everyone would be saying it's PED's. You don't get faster at 28. Not in swimming. Hope she doesn't get caught

I don't think I've ever felt sad post tournament. This past weekend I wasn't able to bring home the win but had such an amazing time. Just being around so many passionate players and seeing everyone having a good time was incredible. Support your scene and keep the games alive!

I've got a very odd problem with the TWIC front page. One Edge browser on one computer is not displaying theweekinchess.com correctly, putting the right hand column at the bottom of the page. That's very strange to me. Anyone else seeing this?

This is really a fascinating look as to how the media gets your attention. The information below about Sark is literally the last thing in a long well informed article about a lot it topics. But everything about Sark is exactly in this tweet… nothing more. They chose to promote the article with a pic and headline about Sark on a college football Saturday knowing there’s nothing else about him in the piece… just to get you to read the piece
Dianna Russini@DMRussini

I’m told that representatives for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian have let NFL decision makers know that he would be interested in potential head coaching openings, including the Titans’.

if there were justice in the world, this pathetic post of yours would introduce caleb (brilliant, hilarious) to your horde — exposing them to the idea that youtube content can be good, actually — and snap them out of whatever AI-generated trance your slop has lulled them into. but since there isn’t (justice): it’s “stone.” singular. famously.
