I always find it amusing how everyone suddenly becomes a business expert whenever the future of the #FGC and #EVO comes up. Apparently, everyone has the secret formula that nobody else has discovered. Unless you have a proven track record, you need to stop! “Lower venue fees.” “Move it to a different city.” “Cut costs.” These aren’t solutions… they’re temporary adjustments. None of them address the core problem, and none of them will create meaningful long-term growth. If the goal is genuine sustainability, the answer isn’t another bandage. It’s a complete reset. Tear the model down and rebuild it from the ground up. Remove the politics. Remove the insider culture. Create a neutral, welcoming environment designed for the broader gaming audience… not just the same circle of competitive veterans. You don’t revive a declining ecosystem by rearranging the furniture. You rebuild the foundation. What is wrong with you people? And yes, by you people, I mean you people.

Hey Fam! Let's take a look at the @SuperDojo vs DeepFocus FT10 from 37 Reloaded, Summer 2023. Please share your thoughts. What could Mikey or Deep Focus have done differently? DeepFocus at the time was considered one of the top 2 or 3 players in the world in Hyperfighting and Watts is Watts. DF is a deeply technical player who as someone from this current generation of players has spent considerable time using all the tools available to break down the game. Watts though technically very sound through his career is also a very instinctive player. Someone who feels the opposing player and the rhythm of the match. He knows the game intimately and in his Prime was a Top Hyperfighting competitor. Leading up to the Match there was quite a bit of hype.🔥 From round 1 it appears DeepFocus has prepared extremely well for the match. From anti-airs to distance control, to matchup meta, he's dialed in. He controlled the match from beginning to end. To my eyes Mikey looked very outside of his comfort zone. That's not to say that Guile v Ryu is a comfortable match for the most well trained of Ryu's. It's not. Mike just looked really awkward out there from the very first round. There were lots of missed and even random buttons. That distance where Ryu plays just outside of Guile's crouching forward is space where Mike typically excels but here had little control. Personally I think Mikey should have gotten up and taken 30 seconds to a minute once he was about 3 or 4 games deep into the set. Take a quick breather, get a drink of water, reset and get dialed into the moment. Instead he just clicked right into the next game throughout the entire set. I think that was a mistake. 😔 I must mention that there was an issue with the use of which cabinet to play on. Watts wanted to play on the Big Blue and DeepFocus would only play on Fightsticks. Mike ended up using someone else's stick for the match. I think the optimal Solution would have been to play 2 sets. One on Sticks and the next set on the Big Blue Watts had set up. That way both players move a bit out of their general comfort Zone. At the end of the day Sticks or not, be prepared to jump on Cabs and compete. 🥊 The lesson here at the end of the day be prepared on whatever you have to play on.
