@CelloLady9 @RT93609537 Annie's right -- they might come back if they were established. If they were small plants with young roots. you may need to start fresh... which we can help with figskool.com

@RT93609537 @FigSkool They may come back the following year. New saplings sprout from a root ball beneath the soil’s surface. We thought our new fig trees died and then this happened the next spring.

@FigSkool This is giving ascended master starter pack introductory energy. Jesus would totally hand out figs. and almonds. to weary travelers. I’ll take 2 of each for the long Galilean road ahead of me please 🙏

@LoopysDaddy they do great! Cold isn't an issue at all. But you'll likely want a variety with a "tighter eye" so they don't split as bad when you get tons of rain near harvest time

@Sriracha_king74 zones 5 to 11+.. but it depends on the variety. Life is easy if you're 8-9. Zone 5 is gonna be hard. Like most gardening, USDA zones have limited usefulness for figs too since it's just focused on cold, not the 15 other relevant factors (rain, heat, humidity, sun..)

yup -- just want to be intentional about the variety, probably keep them in containers until you figure out where they'll thrive year round, automated irrigation is extremely helpful -- sometimes I have to water mine 2x/day in 15 gal pots but they love heat, even my 110F days in northern CA. Where are you based?

@FigDevils Nope, I kept noticing them as a kid (This is in Wharton Texas). I kept thinking there must be something wrong with the figs I was picking!

@KaySacco totally doable. They're so hardy that you can "root prune" them too to make more room for them to stay in the same size pot instead of constantly up-potting them

@FigDevils TY!!! I live in a condo so I have a rather small area, probably large enough to plant one in the ground but I'd rather grow it in a pot and keep it small...

@ASingeveryday I've never heard of fig wasps in Texas pollinating smyrna figs! I've always been told they only really live in CA!

@FigDevils Then that would be perfect! I never forgot the little dead wasps in my grandmothers figs.
