@LaurenMedlicott Most of the mums (it is usually women who are accused) are just carers to ill or disabled children and are struggling to manage. They need support not to be accused of child abuse

@LaurenMedlicott You ought to write about fabricated or induced illness and the injustices as autistic mums get accused of it and sometimes lose their children. The problem is paediatrician's are seen as the experts but they don't realise how many autistic kids have hidden physical disabilities

"Fabricated or induced illness" (FII) is a sinister term which, like "parental alienation", is routinely used to undermine mothers, and fathers, who battle for healthcare and educational support for their children. It is the new term for Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy.

Prepping for my viva next week, I keep thinking of all those who have fought for me - family, teachers, disability professionals - to ensure I had access to the same opportunities as my non-#disabled peers. I'm not sure I'd get the same #SEND support now, and that angers me.

So that would have added to the complication too. But I am very aware it is not just autistic parents this affects. Any parent of a disabled child is at risk of being accused

I almost included them but it got complicated as there will be different reasons. Hopefully I will do more research after this though.

@court_crisis It gives paediatrician full control, no mental health professional needed

@court_crisis Also FII is more inclusive than Munchausen's by proxy and other names/definitions used. You don't even need to have lied, being 'over anxious' is enough. That is a deliberate change so it is easier to prove (but just means over identification is even worse).
