CANON AND CONSISTENCY. I think TOS is surprisingly self-consistent, especially in comparison with other tv shows of the era, and I appreciate the world building it establishes, but of course it has many little contradictions that make the idea of “canon” a bit slippery… 1/

@Howlingmutant0 Parodying Alex Jones is a hat on a hat. Just get the guy on the show and have him and Tim build Lego sets. Tim builds and Alex hands him the pieces he needs. Tim gets stuck and they consult the manual. It won't have you rolling in the aisles but at least it would be charming.

It’s interesting to watch Tim do Alex jones because he nails his cadence and mannerisms and all the little things that make for a good impression but he has absolutely nothing funny to say

@ai_sentience @RichardDawkins AI doesn't do any of that. What it is doing is executing functions and commands based on prompts with dollops of flattering and enthusiastic language. It is essentially a Turing Machine with a search engine. When you engage with it you're talking to yourself.

the point @RichardDawkins is making is: if Claude can code/do philosophy/engage in conversation and is not conscious and a human with late stage dementia who can't speak is "conscious" then the definition of "conscious" is broken and fundamentally useless which is obvious
