If you would like to learn how mass immigration can change people's lives, you might want to read the transcripts of Pakistani Muslim rape gang trials. Maybe you could find the girl who had her tongue nailed to a block of wood while grown men raped her and ask if she feels affected. Nobody has a problem with civilised Western immigration. I've never heard anybody complaining about the behaviour of a Norwegian family or feeling intimidated by a bunch of Japanese lads. But if you bring in millions of people from violent, misogynist, homophobic mediaeval cultures, their attitudes do not evaporate when they set foot on British soil. If many of those migrants are the servants of a vicious political and societal ideology, then it's very obvious how it could change all our lives, just as it changed lives in Lebanon and myriad other countries. And if the Left-wing establishment brings these men in as their clients to tilt the electoral balance in the Left's favour, and then allows these men to commit the worst crimes imaginable, then I hope you understand how it can affect our lives and why we are concerned.

Falling immigration numbers offer us a chance to reset the debate and ask how and why people coming to the UK and leaving it changes all our lives. Scream at me all you want but I refuse to ignore the facts in favour of anyone’s divisive fiction and will keep speaking up for a better way forward for all.

@altryne @Yuchenj_UW Why have the code at all now...we should just bypass the code and go straight to bytes. I assume that's the plan.

@IoWBobSeely I'll defend all day your right to say you think she's wrong. I will call out the idea you have a right to follow her around a petrol station shouting and swearing about it because your anger compels you to demand distress.

@DrHoenderkamp @McDonalds These companies don't want British graduates (who might go in and rock the boat) they want indigent pliable foreign wage slaves.

This morning I spoke to a clever, articulate young woman of 23 who has a First Class Honours degree. She cannot find work. She will do anything. Even @McDonalds turned her down. And yet we hear all of the time that these big companies need migration to fill their vacancies....

@BBCNews The clear message to these degenerates: Come to the UK and do whatever the hell you want. If you serve any time at all it'll be minimal. Then we'll give you a free ticket home!

With Reform UK, it's always about 'looking after our own' until it comes to feeding children. Labour is providing over 6,400 children across Kent County Council with free breakfast clubs. Reform UK literally want to take the food from their mouths. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

Why is the Metropolitan Police of London commenting on an attack more than 5000 miles away on a mosque. Would it feel similarly moved to condemn an attack closer to home on, say, a church in Nigeria?

@DuxVul Alternatively, his message seems to be: The government machine is absurdly slow, deeply self-serving, and resistant to change at every turn, despite intense efforts.

I should add that Makerfield has had a Labour MP since the constituency was created in 1983. It’s been run by a Labour council since it fell within the Wigan local authority in 1974. It falls within the ambit of the Greater Manchester mayor, who is also Labour (that would be you — for now). There was a Labour government between 1997 and 2010 (of which you were a part) with huge majorities. These is a Labour government in power now, with an even bigger majority. So it’s a bit odd to blame Makerfield’s woes on a PM who left office in 1990. I understand she left a legacy you don’t like. But you and your party have had more than enough time to clean it up. Why would more time make any difference?
Andrew Neil@afneil

Nice to hear from you, Andy. Thanks for the by election. We live for such things. I’m in no doubt life is tough for lots of folk in Makerfield. But it’s hardly a poster child for urban squalor/deprivation. Thatcher left power in 1990. She was followed by seven years of unThatcher Major and 13 years of Labour government, of which you were a part. So it’s quite a stretch to blame her for any continuing woes. Unless we blame Labour for failing to put anything right. On the other hand the houses you were walking past were bought by the tenants under Thatcher’s right to buy scheme, which has given them some pride in place and some wealth they once could only have dreamt of accumulating. I assume your pledge to ‘renationalise housing’ does not include taking these homes back into public ownership ... even if that would constitute a proper, radical reversal of the Thatcherism you’re (some what bizarrely) campaigning against.

If the courts say that a man can be a woman simply because he says he is, then the whole of society breaks down. Everything becomes meaningless, because if a man can be a woman by saying he is, then a man can say he’s a lion and be a lion. Say he’s a rhino and be a rhino. A three year old child can say they’re an adult and demand to be treated as one in a pub. A mountain may no longer be a mountain; it could be a lettuce if someone has said that it is. You see? A man saying they’re a woman and being told they are by a court renders the whole world insane. And that’s exactly what it is to call a man a woman: insane.
