🚨⛳️🧤 #DISCUSSION — How often do you typically replace your golf glove? Footjoy recommends getting a new glove about every 5 rounds. Some golfers go until skin is showing. Where do you draw the line?

@CadDaddieKrink @LukeKerrDineen Agreed. Just had this conversation with a friend. Grew up in FL on nothing but Bermuda greens caddying and playing where every putt has break. I play on bent now; looks like there is break and there isn’t. As a blade user and someone used to Bermuda it can be maddening!

@LukeKerrDineen As a caddie, blade putters still have a place — players who grew up reading greens with them aren't giving that up easy. The mallet takeover is real on Tour but Colonial this week is exactly the course where a confident blade putter thrives on Bermuda greens.

Why are blade putters going extinct? This concept was explained to me the other day, and I found it super interesting Quick 🧵

@GOLF_com The PGA represents tradition, and many new golfers from the COVID-YouTube golf era see the PGA as an elitist establishment that shuns “commoners” and “fun” which isn’t the case, they just haven’t played the game long enough. Phil won the war. Let LIV fold. The experiment is over.

"I respect everybody that says that I'm the worst thing for golf or I'm the best thing for golf ... I'm so focused on what I can do for the game that somebody saying something online or to me personally in my face is not going to distract me from the mission that I have." Love him or hate him — Bryson DeChambeau doesn't care either way.

Dear @PhilMickelson No one has even appeared to be even nearly as “loose” as you on the golf course, other than maybe Freddy. Forget swing mechanics…what can I do to “feel” more loose? My greatest problem is getting tense and feeling “trapped” in my swing under pressure. Thanks.

@MattWalshBlog To each their own. I quit drinking 8 years ago just to simply feel better and healthier, and totally lost interest to where I don’t even think about alcohol. I don’t think alcohol has anything to do with masculinity. If anything, quitting has enhanced my testosterone and drive.

@NUCLRGOLF Getting arrested by a Texas cop in a 10 gallon hat is punishment enough. He’s probably still in an interrogation room being questioned if he’s a communist sympathizer

@MyGolfSpy I was fit by the PING rep for irons in 2013, after always playing “stock” irons. No disrespect, but so-called club fitting isn’t for me or possibly many amateurs. If you change brand of golf shoes you’re going to compromise loft, lie, etc. Shaft weight is all that matters tbh

Getting fit for a whole set of irons by ONLY hitting a 7-iron is kind of insane when you think about it. You don’t play just one iron. Not to mention, the data shows the “best” 7-iron isn’t always the best full set. Read this before your next fitting: buff.ly/dR6EVms

@EliteGolfDad My first “real” driver was a Titleist 975D with a stock Graffaloy shaft in 2001. It was $399 which in hindsight sounds like nothing but then that was massive to me. It’s simple inflation.

I know golf is in a bubble and bubbles always pop. I also know once companies know consumers will pay certain prices for goods, they’re never going to lower prices - even when the bubble pops. Yes, this has a $350 shaft, but the head itself is still $700. Not calling out Titleist here. This is industry standard. I just don’t see how this is sustainable. Normal people everywhere can hardly buy groceries right now. Debt is rising like crazy. Yes, golf lends itself to higher earners by nature. It’s an expensive game. But we’re at a point now where $700 is an off the rack price for a new driver. Want to get fitted? You’re looking at close to $1000 or more. These are now the floor. It’ll only get worse from here. At what point do golfers push back? And what if they do? I’m not a financial genius by any means. Where’s the breaking point where cost drives down demand? And who loses? Us? OEMs? Courses? Everybody?

@Joe_aficionado @NUCLRGOLF Agreed. Even “golf heckling” is like nothing. If you go to a soccer event in England (sorry Brits) the amount of verbal punishment they dish out is at a high-level. But still, they aren’t going to call Rory a “wanker” at Troon, unless David Beckham was with him at a pro-am

@NUCLRGOLF Who am I to say, but you can’t blame the PGA for not being able to control some rowdy fans, especially NY. It’s not like there is a vetting process; it’s just the hope fans recognize the decorum of golf…which they don’t these days, because all respect down to apparel is indecent
