@jcorrigangolf This dude, wonder if he draws the same conclusions from Rory skipping 2 sig events, Homa throwing a club at the Heritage, Akshay missing the cut at the masters having won a signature event weeks before, Bobby Mac throwing a middle finger at Augusta (at least Sergio apologized)...

Trey Wingo is selling a new conspiracy theory that posits “LIV Golf is essentially dead” based on the collective actions of 4 of its stars. (One claims is false. While the others are kernels of truth. #LIVGolf

@KylePorterNS @seedgolfco Both things can be true... LIV strategy is to go after big international markets Australia, Korea, SA etc, and US markets not covered by the PGAT...

The Smash GC rebrand made me laugh this week. Pro golf is ridiculous part 942. This week's podcast presented by @seedgolfco.

@ArtemusVandelay @EricNasher17 @Kirschbomb Nah, there were multiple reports last week that LIV employees were looking for new jobs, every media outlet was on the gossip without confirmation... that happens on the PGAT and everybody waits for the official announcement, no questions asked, no annonymouse sources on the PGAT

@Joe_aficionado @EricNasher17 @Kirschbomb Think it’s a relatively fair for there to be a difference in coverage when one story involved a tour laying off ~50 people and the other is the potential/likely demise of an entire golf league that disrupted the entire sport.

Absolute crickets from NLU, Skratch, TFE etc. on PGAT layoffs after 10,000 think pieces and tweets on speculation about LIV. Not exactly beating the corrupt media allegations.

@EricNasher17 @Kirschbomb Ill also add that the LIV reports overanalyzed the situation, however with PGAT news they just replicate the official press release, nobody inquires, what roles these people had, seems PGAT has more employees than players, etc

@EricNasher17 @Kirschbomb There is a huge difference in coverage , the LIV news was announced, discussed, reported (emergency pods everywhere) based on rumors + anonymous sources, yet with the PGAT's layoffs, even though it was rumored weeks ago nobody reported it until it was officially confirmed...

It's not fair to ask Jim to be the pain sponge just because US is in disarray! (Although I'm sure he wanted another shot after the collective Phil/Patrick/Tiger/Bryson/Jordan drama in France.)

@KVanValkenburg Ya know, KVV ... If we're going to be massacred anyway, might as well lean into the comedy of it.

Jim Furyk accepting the 2027 Ryder Cup captaincy is the golf equivalent of that scene in an action movie when the grizzled ex-operative is sitting on his porch, finally at peace, when a black SUV rolls up the gravel drive. Furyk doesn't even turn around. "No." The suit gets out anyway. "It's Adare Manor. We're sending you in." Furyk takes a pull from his beer. "I already did my tour. You know how that went," as he stares off into the distance, the camera cutting to a yellowed NYT newspaper with the infamous interview on his desk. The suit slides a dossier across the railing. "Bethpage was a disaster. Morale is gone. Half the roster won't return our calls. You're the only one they'll follow into Ireland." You can see it in Furyk's eyes — the math of a man who knows this is almost certainly going to end badly, who remembers exactly how cold the Atlantic wind gets on foreign soil. He knows nobody else is walking through that door. He also knows this Hail Mary is the only thing that can free him from the past. Furyk picks up the folder, seeing a photo of a smiling Luke Donald shopping for shampoo and a headline announcing Patrick Reed is back in form. Furyk goes to his shed, takes off the tarp from his captain golf cart. "One more thing," the suit says. "Bryson is thinking about being a full-time YouTuber." Furyk laughs. "Good. For a second I was thinking this was going to be too easy."

If you dislike the Jim Furyk pick for U.S. captain in 2027, who should the PGA of America chosen instead?

@TheWingoNetwork This is the most stupid report ever, they could be discussing elevation at the Mexico venue, strategy, the greens, the lies, whatever....

That conversation had everyone’s attention. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau had a long talk on the putting green while players all around watched. With so much uncertainty around LIV and reports Bryson could be asking for up to $500 million, everyone was trying to read what it meant. @wingoz @BrodyAMiller

@TheWingoNetwork If you're going to argue that LIV doesn't prepare its players for majors analyse as well the case of Fleetwood, Hovland, Homa, Finau, Cantlay... Also, no PGAT winner this season could win the masters...

The numbers look great, but they don’t tell the whole story. On LIV, players like Jon Rahm are hitting over 80% of greens in regulation, while the PGA Tour leader sits around 72%. The setup just isn’t the same, and it may not be preparing players for major championships. @wingoz @JustinRayGolf

In retrospect, the golf media’s “bombshell” stories last week turned out to be correct (events being cancelled, staff laid off). They just had the WRONG TOUR. It's called projection! #LIVGolf #PGATour

The PGA Tour laid off 56 employees Thursday and closed 73 open roles, as the for-profit mindset continues to evolve under CEO Brian Rolapp. The layoffs represent roughly 4% of the tour’s 1,300-person workforce.

I have reached the age where 9 holes after a full work day is perfect. Trying to cram in 18 holes between 5 pm and 8 pm is too much stress. A leisurely 9 hole walk with focus on each shot is so much better at this point. Who's with me on 9 hole rounds?

@Luke_Elvy PGAT didn't need private equity to succeed, huge mistake, but forced as consequence of their strategy, if they didn't ban players for going to LIV, LIV would not be forced throw money away to players, no division, and the 4 or 5 top PGAT events would have Rahm, Bryson, Hatton

Round one of cuts at the Tour has happened. It sucks for all involved, mostly because Jay Monahan got paid like an NFL Quarterback despite performing like a high school punter.
Josh Carpenter@JoshACarpenter

The PGA Tour on Thursday laid off 56 full-time positions, or around 4% of its global staff. In a memo to employees, CEO Brian Rolapp described it as a "difficult - but important" step for the tour in its new for-profit era sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2026/…

Trey Wingo is going bonkers again about who's leaving LIV to PGAT. I truly think he wets his pants with excitement every time he talks about LIV. His top 5 players who he's salivating over are, Bryson Rahm Joaco Tyrrell AK Trey is silent on PGAT layoffs and cut backs 🤡
