Some of you are so embedded in an echo chamber that the moment you encounter people operating from a different set of principles, you crumble. That is not persuasion. If your ideas cannot survive contact with disagreement, they are not ready for the real world.

We're banning raves, because we don't want you having fun where we can't watch you. By the way let me tell you about Woodstock. We're cracking down on underage drinking. It's bad for you. Yeah of course we hit up the pubs at your age it was great. We're banning smoking, but just for you - the smoking age will go up one year every year. Oh yes of course, we used to be able to smoke inside everywhere, it was great really. We're banning flavored vapes. We don't have any evidence they're bad for you, you just like them too much. We're banning dodgeball during recess, someone might get hurt. Yeah we really enjoyed dodgeball too. We're banning flirting, because it might make the girls uncomfortable. We're locking you in your room for the next two years. Yes we know you're in no danger from the virus, but we're worried that you'll get us sick. By the way you have to take this needle if you want to leave your room again. Yes, twice. Well there will be boosters too. No, we aren't worried about side effects, that doesn't effect us at all. We're closing the frat houses, because we don't want you having fun without our permission. Please join these officially sanctioned university clubs instead. We're bringing in labor from the third world to work the service jobs, so you can't have a summer job. You need to go to university to get a good job. By the way we're raising the price of tuition. Oh look we're raising it again. Don't worry there are loans. At interest. Actually we're giving the good jobs to the foreigners we just imported, to make up for our racist past. We are very good people. No of course we aren't sacrificing anything. You just have to take one for the team. Also, we're giving the foreigners the houses. We needed to increase real estate prices. For our pensions, you see. Sadly no, you'll probably never be able to afford one yourself. By the way don't forget to pay your taxes. Need to support those pensions somehow! Eh? No, we're giving ourselves tax breaks of course. Seniors discount you know. Oh by the way, that one thing you still have, now that we've banned joy and kicked every ladder out from under you? That social media stuff you kids like? You guessed it! We're banning that too! Just for you though, we're still going to watch AI videos on Facebook. It's for your safety, you see. We've noticed that you're all getting rather irate, and we think it would be better for your mental health if you shut up for a while. Why don't you just go outside? Eh? No of course we aren't going to stop Ahmed and his twelve illiterate cousins from raping your sister, that would be culturally insensitive, which would make us feel very bad, and we can't have that.

@linmeitalks This is a false dichotomy though. Children are not either zombies or flourishing by default. Parents impising sensible limits solves all of this without regulations. This law is a soft admission of societal and family decay.

Of course YouTube will hit back - they have millions of zombie children plugged in for hours a day. I see it on trains, in restaurants, in prams etc Children glued to YouTube when they should be communicating with parents / family, seeing the world around them, playing outside and reading books to create imagination and creativity. I don’t need to be a parent to see children’s social skills go down the pan because of a lack of real life interaction in social settings, because parents take the easy way out of plonking screens in front of their children. I had parents who both worked two jobs yet still sat with me to do homework, read books and play with educational games from the early learning centre.

🚨 NEW: YouTube has hit out at the UK's social media ban for under-16s "YouTube is a vital resource for young people, educators and parents. Blanket bans push kids out of such curated, supervised, beneficial experiences and towards anonymous, less safe services"

When was the 1st time something happened that made you think this might not be the country you'd been raised to think & hope it was? Not just something you disagreed with, but that was of a nature, or created a reaction in others, that made you doubt?

@estherzelda0514 @actsmaniac @MichaelQiu14 You're scrambling to somehow dismiss the major, civilisational-scale achievements of a company that deals in space travel. It might be best to realise that you're on the losing side of this one.

It's quite funny that this dude's historic wealth might be the most persuasive blackpilling possible on capitalism, and yet the socialist warriors do not take advantage of the opportunity. Let me explain. His wealth is fundamentally disconnected from personal merit or direct labor. He is the CEO of three companies and in the C-suite at many others. There is simply no possibility whatsoever that he works the hours expected of such positions and that the little personal labor he dedicates to them represents the the incredible wealth he has extracted from them. Moreover, there are several, well-documented claims from insiders that they have to handle or buffer his erratic behavior, and that the executives that actually do the work are relieved when he gets hyperfocused on another company and leaves them alone. What work he does when he is hyperfocused consists mostly, according to insiders, as extreme micromanagement. He self-describes himself as a "nano-manager," and his official biographer talks about his hyper-critical "demon mode." There is a pretty reasonable argument to be made that his presence harms these companies, rather than helps them. This is only boosted by how many expensive, high-profile lawsuits his companies have been embroiled in by his public remarks, nonstop posting, and refusal to abide by financial disclosure deadlines. How he treats his employees and unilaterally fires people without cause also causes employment lawsuits. Substantively, his companies also benefit from him lying to the market to cause speculation and government subsidies won by quid pro quo behavior that would have, in better times, been considered criminal. Musk causes Tesla and SpaceX to consistently lie about its products, and he is never punished enough to offset the personal benefit he gets from the market or subsidies by such lying. His wealth is an illusion driven by retail investor enthusiasm based on these lies, market expectations based on his lies and the fact that he has yet to seriously pay for lying, and pay packages approved by boards stacked with flunkies that cannot articulate how he can possibly do enough work as the CEO of three companies and executive of half a dozen others to justify his intensely bloated pay packages. He receives that pay even when his companies are not profitable, which has led to constant shareholder lawsuits. If there was a poster boy of American Capitalism, it is him. He represents everything wrong with the reality of how the system works, and how lying and anticompetitive behavior is not adequately curbed.

@MichelleDewbs It's a class thing. The middle and upper classes couldn't comprehend ACTUALLY treating the poor with dignity. Their plight is ignored now and it will be ignored tomorrow. It's a hopeless state of affairs.

Last year, a video went viral of a scared, 12 year old girl in Dundee. She was waving weapons, shouting at a migrant to leave her alone. Almost immediately, many on the left were calling this girl a liar (and worse). They were saying the “far-right” were whipping up ‘anti-migrant hate’. People like @HumzaYousaf & many more called it ‘bullsh*t’. Many, including people like @jdpoc while calling her a liar & talking about her ‘hatred’, showed pictures of the little girl. Just to make sure everyone knew who the ‘liar’ they were talking about, was. A fundraiser for the girl was mocked, suggesting she’d use the money to buy “machetes and IronBru” She was a child. Their posts were seen by hundreds of thousands of people. She wasn’t ‘hate-filled’, she was scared. Yesterday, her version of events was proven to be true. She was sexually harassed by a migrant and another child physically assaulted too. The man and his sister were prosecuted. How shameful that children need to arm themselves for protection. How shameful that adults will deny their reality. How shameful that some people are so desperate to defend migration into this country, that they will literally mock children who are victims of their crimes. Shame on you all. I’ll be fascinated to see how many of you publicly apologise to the girl, in the same public way that you called her a liar. I won’t hold my breath… I hope this girl is ok. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/uk/bulgar…

@RekordBoxPhobic @gjonesbass Do you think that it was actually a Sudanese guy trying to decapitate an innocent man that caused a race war riot in "ireleand"? Or are the Irish normally cool with random foreigners decapitating their own, but Musk came in and changed their mind?

@OBEhizele And to your first point, after all, mass migration creates conditions where the immigrants "other" the natives too, when they form enclaves and don't integrate. Like a vicious cycle

@King0243_PJC Tbh, I think when a Sudanese fighting age male turns up in an alien country to him, and tries to behead someone in the street, that is what inflames tensions and amplifies social unrest. Would you agree?

After Belfast, I’ve been looking at some of the most extreme accounts flooding UK discussions. A striking number appear to have little or no genuine connection to the communities they’re commenting on, yet they’re relentlessly amplifying division, anger and far-right narratives. Meanwhile, X’s algorithm rewards outrage because outrage drives engagement. At what point do we stop pretending this is an organic public conversation and start asking whether anonymous networks, bots, and location-masked accounts are helping inflame tensions in Britain? The Government cannot keep ignoring the role social media platforms play in amplifying social unrest. #Belfast
