Odd argument. Two different ways of achieving a goal and it depends on what you mean by success. BO has launched 3 times and successfully landed the booster while failing to put one payload into orbit so 66% of its main objectives have been successful. SpaceX is like, "this is what we would like to see happen during this hellfire test and if it blows up or the heat shield fails, we'll try something else." Although they've only launched dummy loads, a stuffed banana and no commercial payloads, soon it will be damned near perfect and every bit as reliable as the Falcon 9.

And I still wouldn’t be surprised if it slips beyond the 20th or even to potentially after Memorial Day, just knowing that this is an entirely new rocket and launch pad.

@Erdayastronaut Tim while I have your attention, I want to say your last video convinced me more than anything I've seen before that Starship only works as an orbital truck, like the space shuttle. I believe something else needs to develop for beyond Earth flight.

And to be fair, I thought the same thing of V2, which had some massive stumbles at the beginning. I thought it was going to be far more mature and closer to orbit-ready. So it was disappointing. And that's ok. It doesn't really matter when just a year later there's already an entirely new vehicle about to debut and the factory ready to make many of them.

They were flying prototypes, literal experiments to help them develop a mature vehicle and pad. Just look at the first flight and pad compared to what's out there now. Night and day. This vehicle is more mature and they're taking their time to get the most data out of it as possible.

@ZeroDayMedia4U @Erdayastronaut Before, they were in a more experimental phase, throwing things at the wall to see what stuck. Now the program is moving into a phase that wants to become more "operational" and focus on reliability and milestones over experimenting.

@Erdayastronaut @HeirTatsu This video only reenforces that Starship was designed as a low orbit truck, anything beyond that is a cluster. Mostly designed for launching large amounts of hardware for SpaceX's projects, not going to the Moon or Mars.

I'm somewhere between pessimistic and hopeful weirdly. In 2020 when I saw some of the first Starlink launches, I certainly didn't imagine we'd have 11,000+ Starlinks on orbit already. Just like after seeing the first booster land in 2015, I certainly didn't imagine actually reusing them more than a couple times, and having it still be more of a lucky thing when they recovered and reused a booster, vs the absolute norm.
So I don't know. I've seen both sides of this coin. Disappointment and changes drifting farther from the plan (Grey Dragon, dearMoon, any and all MARS timelines), but I've also been shocked by some accomplishments.
