@theenglandcapt @Lionesses True Gill, found the system that worked for the players he had, & then got the very best from that system/players eg. '84 EURO'S showed it perfectly :- Pl-10 W-9 L-1 F-28 A-3 A placid exterior indeed, a real gentleman. Those who met him were better for it 👍👏👏⚽️⚽️⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Remembered fondly by this @Lionesses captain Retained me on his appointment & a partnership that delivered a EURO's final ('84) & a Mundialito victory ('85) in 31 games over 5 years Absolute gentleman with an interior of absolute granite - hated losing 👍👏👏⚽️⚽️⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Remembering a #Lionesses legend ❤️ Today, we think of Martin Reagan, who managed 96 games and guided us to our first European Championship final in 1984.

"Fish farms and pollution in Scotland." Meanwhile in that idilic paradise north of the border..... Atlantic salmon are on the brink of extinction yet salmon farms in Scotland are still allowed to dump the equivalent of 2.5 million people sh*tting directly into the sea, all of it untreated. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Everest Today@EverestToday·
Gone on this day, 11 May 1996; Scott Fischer, American climber, died high on Mt Everest during the deadliest disaster in the mountain’s history at the time. He was 40 years old. Born in the United States, Fischer built his reputation through bold ascents in the Himalaya and Karakoram. He climbed Lhotse in 1990, K2 in 1992, Everest in 1994, and Broad Peak in 1995, becoming known for his strength, energy, and larger-than-life personality. In 1996, he returned to Everest leading a commercial expedition under his company, Mountain Madness. On 10 May 1996, Fischer successfully reached the summit of Everest for the second time. But during the descent, exhaustion, altitude, and worsening weather overtook him high above the South Col. He was last seen alive near the Balcony area, unable to continue descending as a violent storm engulfed the mountain. His body remained on Everest. The tragedy became world famous through Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, which portrayed the events of the 1996 disaster from the perspective of a client on the mountain. Fischer was remembered in the book as a bold but physically exhausted leader pushing himself despite signs of illness and fatigue during the expedition. Later, Anatoli Boukreev, Fischer’s lead guide on the expedition responded with his own account in The Climb. The book defended decisions made during the storm and offered a different perspective on Fischer, portraying him as an experienced climber facing the immense pressures of guiding clients on Everest during the rise of commercial expeditions. Thirty years later, Scott Fischer is remembered not just for the 1996 Everest tragedy, but also for his brave spirit, big dreams, and deep love for the mountains. Photo ©: Scott Fischer Archives.

A strong domestic, clean, safe, non polluting water industry is vital not only for our economy but the very existence of humanity itself, every bill player, customer, voter, every resident of my street, your street, the next street over. That’s why we’re introducing a Bill... ah, no, sorry, wrong industry... 🤔
Department for Business and Trade@biztradegovuk

Strong domestic steel production is vital for our economy. That’s why we’re introducing a Bill giving government powers that could be used to nationalise British Steel.

As @FAWNL clubs, players & supporters wait to learn their fate, interesting & unfortunate considerations re their views & comments. Mix of disillusionment of being ignored anyway & being afraid to “speak out” in fear of “putting 🎯 on backs”. Hardly inspiring is it? @TomJGarry

Yet another example of the big lie, Yorkshire Water's shareholders and not investing a penny over the next 5 years it's all coming from customers, funded directly from bill payers pockets. Next time someone tells you otherwise show them this.
IlkleyCleanRiver@CleanIlkley

@WaterUK @AnglianWater So @YorkshireWater business plan for this 5 years is entirely funded from customer bills and the illegal inter company loan repayment…except of course the massive accrued debt interest payments. Turns out we don’t need the ‘investment ‘ which is printing money for shareholders

7/5/83 Bob Paisley’s final season & Liverpool are champions again. There’s a gentle dignity to it all - an excellent side, guided by a truly exceptional man. You listen to him speak & are struck not by triumph, but by humility. No grandstanding, no fuss - just quiet authority.

"The government has missed its own deadline for bringing enforcement action against water companies polluting rivers and seas." And yet again there we have it. All of the promises, all of the empty, vacuous words, all of the failed commitments. Worthless, meaningless, nonsense. thetimes.com/uk/environment…

Feargal Sharkey, "Water companies... The fines don't work, it's time we actually started upholding the law, and sending some of these executives and directors to jail" Krishnan Guru-Murthy, "You think we should put them in jail?"
