The Canadian Independent Fish Harvesters’ Federation represents at the national level the men and women who harvest most of Canada’s seafood.










Canada’s independent fish harvesters generate billions of dollars for the economy annually. In my first speech as Minister, @FishIndependent and I talked about our shared priorities for helping Canada remain a leader in world-class, sustainable fish and seafood.

1/3 The Fish Harvester Benefit Program, which runs until October 1, was supposed to support commercial fishers through a very difficult year. Instead, it’s making life even worse with for over 4000 harvesters as DFO claw backs nearly $18M.
