Large genome size is associated with reduced metabolic rate and fewer cell types across vertebrates. One hypothesis is that larger genomes interfere with metabolic processes of DNA replication and RNA synthesis, inhibiting cell differentiation. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

The #human_genome has about 3 billion nucleotides (ATCG), about the same as the mustard plant, and most other eukaryotic cells. #Complexity, whatever that is, is not only in the amount of #DNA per cell.

Isn't the causal relationship opposite to what is claimed in this article? Rather than species having large abundances because they have "streamlined their genomes", species with large abundances are likely more efficient in streamlining their genomes? nature.com/articles/s4159…

I recently stumbled upon a YouTube channel I hadn't discovered before, by Milos Popovic. It's all about crafting stunning maps using R programming! I wanted to spread the word because I believe his tutorials are fantastic. Check it out if you're into data visualization or want to learn something new. Link to his YouTube channel: @milos-makes-maps" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">youtube.com/@milos-makes-m… Also, consider subscribing to my free newsletter for ongoing insights into statistics, data science, and programming with R and Python.
