@ScottMendelson Men are tired of watching strong female characters be shoved down their throats And women are not supporting it either. I'm sure Hollywood will overlook it and continue flushing money down the drain

There are many reasons why SUPEGIRL bombed last weekend. The online troll campaigns and related “eww... girls have cooties” discourse, part of what’s long become a self-sustaining economy, is not one of them. We’ll have more proof of that when THE ODYSSEY opens big next month.

@TraumPhili15570 @HenrikVegetable @HDMOVIESOURCE While they're not able to do it.... Hollywood needs to accept that some of their complaints are shared by other movie goers. Hollywood tried to shove strong women characters down everyone's throats, now female led action films are struggling.

@HenrikVegetable @HDMOVIESOURCE Yes, but the neckbeard contingent isn't actually significant enough to tank a film, despite how oversized their presence is on social media.

@SlavsFreeTalk From a visual standpoint what could have helped Supergirl possibly. Is if they casted someone taller (Possibly a model) who could tower over Ruthye. Milly felt like a teenager taking care of a teenager. Instead of a Heroic figure like Rooster.

There is a large section of White Boys who scream "WOKE" when they see a woman on screen in a leading role nowadays... is this the main reason? No not at all. But it doesn't help. I hate Woke culture as much as the next guy, but this movie (Supergirl) was far from woke. So what else could it be? The actresses off handed comments on political stances? FFS... get over it people. But even then.. that isn't it. Okay... what else then? Is it a bad movie? No, it isn't that bad. At least not as bad as the Box Office shows. Idk if we can figure out what it is exactly.

I dont love that theres no love interest in supergirl. FEMALE CHARACTERS ARENT STRONGER BECAUSE THEY ARE ALONE AND THEY DESERVE LOVE TOO

@SlavsFreeTalk Was it woke? No. But the woke culture in Hollywood that felt the need at every corner to show horn in girl boss moments into films and degrade men when they could lead to a culture where men have no interest in female action movies. And they can't draw women

@SmackdownLayer Batman 2 is going to underperform. I think the whole brand is damaged. The only solo hero I think will continue to perform well is Spiderman

@stacemaster21 @ValdisVox Ballerina and Furiosa both underperformed. It has more to do with Hollywood shoving strong female characters down the audience's throats. They ran fans off and they can't draw women to support these movies.

@ThatJunkman Also you have to cast the right people. Someone who actually looks heroic standing next to a 14 yr old. The story is based on True Grit and an important visual is Supergirl looking like a protector like John Wayne.

If you want females to see Supergirl, make it for females, not a male action movie with a female. Have her fall in love, mix it with a good romantic story.

@PaulTassi I don't think anything she said played a factor... But the mind set of these streamers shouldn't be written off completely. Hollywood over saturated the strong female characters until it was annoying, now it's hurting films like Supergirl, Ballerina and Furiosa.

You are not gonna convince me Milly Alcock saying liberal things is the reason Supergirl bombed, when harassed to living hell Brie Larson's Captain Marvel made $1.1 billion. You guys don't matter as much as you think

@TheEbonyMaw They oversaturated the market with strong female characters in movies where they were not needed and turned fans off. Then they never learned how to draw women to make up for the people they pushed away.

I bet backlash against Milly Alcock lost the movie $10k - $20k maybe. But I think it’s way more likely that general audience just doesn’t have an appetite for female super hero movies, especially lately, & especially if they’re introduced as a drunk, irreverent party girl.

@GoToThePictures Or women. I thought the whole push for more women in action was meant to bring in a female audience. It's done the opposite. They pander to everyone but the fans and actually have no clue on how to attract women

So, if "misogynist SnyderCultists" are to blame for Supergirl failing, then where are all the Real DC fans who apparently are the majority and why didn't they show up for this film?

@EyerotGaming @joerussotweets The interviews and the people hating Milly are not why it flopped. Superhero fatigue Hollywood damaged female action films with their woke crap And they don't actually know what women will watch

Peter Safran: "We were surprised by both the ferocity of the backlash and its reach, believing the culture had evolved past that sort of campaign.” If Snyder Bros were hoping WB was GUNNa kill this DC universe off so quickly, a forced SUPERGIRL misogyny campaign wasn’t the play.

@DiscussingFilm Hollywood doesn't understand the audiences these movies need to appeal to. Feminist don't understand Women. And they've completely shit on men to the point men will not support these movies. Until there is acknowledgement of this. Female action movies will continue to flop.

@MoviesThatMaher Clayface is not overly important. Lower budget film in a genre that's popping is not an indicator. Man of Tomorrow is the ultimate test

Gunn needs damage control and quickly. It baffles me that DC and Marvel skipped Comic Con the last few times, that’s a direct line of contact with the core fans who arguably spend a lot of time online giving opinions. DC needs to go to Comic Con, Gunn better have a teaser for Man Of Tomorrow which has to be fire!, Clayface needs to be awesome. It’s not a disaster YET BUT best to get ahead of it. #Supergirl
