The Kickstarter ploy here is what's gross. Last year at a Formnext party, a Chinese founder was bragging after a few drinks that he got his factory and land free from the government, I just checked, of course they ran a KS too 🤦 The playbook is simple: wait until the new tech has all the dead ends solved, start a company, take the subsidies and tax breaks, and milk the Western community. The new Creality IPO paperwork is a rare glimpse into how this works, if anyone wants to dig. But it is very surface level. For deeper research into this topic you'll need a Chinese phone, bank account, etc to access most of the source. Because of course - no one can fact check this way or if local, get into trouble 😬 (My father couldn't even study before '89, the communists took our family's property two generations earlier.) Since I started saying publicly that we're researching this, a lot of previously public documents have quietly disappeared 🤔 The CCP state support worked too well. In the last 6 years the desktop market got wiped, 95% China, the remaining 5% is Prusa. The billions being dumped into it are not just for the benefit of the Western consumer. I should do a longer write up after Makerfaire Prague! BTW It would be too funny if these are the guys we caught in our locked private room checking the CORE One INDX prototype the night before the Formnext reveal 🤣

@PolitlcsUK @Telegraph I read 4 books last year about the disappearance of Madeline McCann. I’m 100% convinced it’s Brueckner took her that night. I spent years believing the parents had something to do with it because I didn’t look too much into it. I only have sympathy for them now.

@EVCircles In their defence there isn't much car modding done to EV's and that isn't their target audience, so EV owners are free to hate them for it.

Pretty disappointing to see this shit from Mighty Car Mods who have until now been pretty strong on “cars as a community”. They’re getting hit pretty hard in the comments so that’s something.

NEW: Former JP Morgan employee who accused his boss of forcing him to become her s*x slave, previously claimed his dad died so he could collect three months of paid leave, according to the New York Post. Chirayu Rana allegedly made the lie and then used his time on leave to prepare the lawsuit. "In or around November 2024, the plaintiff’s father passed away, and he went to his parents’ home in Virginia... The company thought he was working through something," a source told the outlet. The Post has contacted Rana's father, who is, in fact, alive. His father says he doesn't know anything about the allegations his son previously made. "I don’t know anything about it. He didn’t talk with us or anything… He’s my son. He’s a good guy," he told the New York Post.

A man invented a $2.5 MILLION crime spree, sold it to Hollywood and charged $30,000 per speech to explain how he did it. It was all lies. > Frank Abagnale claimed he spent 5 years as a teenage fugitive. > Impersonating a Pan Am pilot, a Harvard trained doctor and a Louisiana attorney general while forging $2.5 MILLION in bad checks across 26 countries. > Steven Spielberg turned it into a 2002 blockbuster starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks. > It became one of the highest grossing films of that year. > Broadway turned it into a musical. > The FBI hired him as a consultant. > AARP named him their official Fraud Watch Ambassador. > He charged between $20,000 and $30,000 per speaking engagement for decades telling audiences how he pulled it all off. > For 40 years nobody seriously questioned any of it. > Then in 2020 a journalist named Alan Logan spent three years pulling every public record prison document newspaper archive and court file he could find. > Pan Am's own security department told a journalist as early as 1978 "This never happened. You don't forget $2.5 MILLION in bad checks." > Prison records showed Abagnale was behind bars for most of the years he claimed to be a fugitive. > The Georgia hospital had no record of him. > The Louisiana attorney general's office had no record of him. > His only confirmed crime was check fraud totalling less than $1,500. > Logan's conclusion the entire story was not embellished but fabricated. > Abagnale had not committed the con by impersonating pilots and doctors. > He committed it by convincing Hollywood, the FBI and the entire world that he had. The most valuable skill Frank Abagnale ever had was the ability to make people so entertained by a story that they forgot to verify it. That skill made him MILLIONS legally.

YouTube’s website is currently affected by a major bug that causes individual video tabs to consume over 7 GB of RAM. Users are experiencing severe lag, frozen tabs, and in some cases the entire browser becomes unresponsive. The issue stems from an endless loop in how the interface handles the action buttons below the video player (Like, Share, Save, etc.). The layout code repeatedly shows and hides buttons as it tries to fit them into the available space, triggering constant browser recalculations. This bug impacts Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, and other browsers. A reliable temporary fix is to block the problematic menu using an ad blocker such as uBlock Origin. Add this filter: www(.)youtube(.)com###menu This removes the buttons under the player but immediately stops the memory leak and freezing.

I might also add, this is only part of the copper, tin and steel I stripped silver off. So not 56 grams worth here.

Jury still out whether it’s worth it or not. I will have to weigh the hollow ware to work out an estimate per KG or piece.

56 grams of silver out of all that. Could potentially contain other precious metals. Yield could also be down because it’s the first time and I didn’t fully understand the process.

Ghetto lab update. I’ve stripped most of the silver off a heap of these and hopefully have it all here in the form of silver chloride. Main goal is enough profit without resorting to acid recovery that I will want to build a better lab and do more of it.

@canalCCore2 ABS requirements are disc brakes and speed sensors which are just a sensor and a slotted thing. I'd believe that side airbags probably wouldn't fit, but I think they just didn't want to do any of it.

Tony Hawk reveals turning down $500,000 from Activision was the best financial decision of his life "When they were close to launching the game, they started to sense that there was buzz about it. It was already getting good reviews from previews and they felt this surge of interest" "They offered me a buyout of future royalties right before the game launched. They offered me half a million dollars. They said you get that right now and then no money going forward" "No one had ever spoken those types of numbers to me before, but I felt like I was in a pretty good place. I was doing well in other ways. I was still skating a lot, doing events, I had good endorsements, and I thought I'm gonna take a risk and I don't need that money right now"

@PerseusSlade @LibertyPillMeme It's not being eliminated. Every country has a main language China is no exception, 60 million people still speak cantonese in China, there are about 300 languages in total. If you want eliminated, see what happened to native languages from Australia and the USA.

The residence where I lived in SZ in the 2010s did that during construction. Once a row of shops was finished, they'd put up signs with similar-looking names, to make it look like the shops were running.
