Just listened to @mtpennycook’s speech on leasehold and the Q&A.
Some of his comments on shared ownership don’t add up.
How will changes that only benefit newbuild SO leases improve the experience for existing customers? What am I missing?

i work full time in westminster and have a masters degree from cambridge, but i still claim universal credit. if rent controls were a thing, i wouldn’t be spending 75% of my salary on my rent and i wouldn’t have to claim housing benefit to afford to live 🏡

@tomcopley @insidehousing @MayorofLondon We don’t need more corporate build-to-rent blocks of flats, and we don’t need more shared ownership. Unless you are building 80% homes for social rent and 20% for affordable private sale, with no privatisation of the land they stand on, you’re perpetuating the housing problem.
