According to CBS, citing defense officials speaking on condition of anonymity, the USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and USS Mason (DDG-87) transited the Strait of Hormuz today into the Persian Gulf under constant threat from Iranian fires. Per the report, both destroyers transited while being targeted by Iranian drones, missiles, and small fast-attack craft during the transit. They were supported by Apache helicopters and other aircraft throughout the barrage of Iranian attacks. Additionally, per the report, no projectiles struck the ships during the engagement.

Marjorie Taylor Greene on reporting threats to her family to the Trump administration: "I did hear from Kash Patel. He said, 'on it,' but I haven't heard from him since. I don't know what he's on."

This is a savvy legal move by Trump. May 1: War Powers letter formally ends hostilities, preserves force posture, asserts Article II constitutional authority. May 3: "Project Freedom" announced as a humanitarian operation, not military. Monday: US Navy escorts neutral commercial ships through Hormuz under freedom of navigation rights. If Iran fires on it: that is Iran starting a new conflict. Trump is responding defensively, not attacking. No new War Powers clock starts because the US did not initiate hostilities. Iran did.

Following the announcement of the U.S.-led "Project Freedom," vessel traffic in the Strait of Hormuz remains at a trickle, and the majority of vessels that are transiting are using the Iranian traffic separation scheme and not the "Project Freedom" corridor closer to Oman.
