First author J. Med. Chem. paper released and defending your PhD on the same day?! That’s a great day @Katrina_Holly98! Very proud of our newly minted PhD from the lab!

New paper out today from @Katrina_Holly98 and Prabhakara Rao Tharra on their work on development of bacterial carbonic anhydrase inhibitors against vancomycin-resistant Enterococci. They produced an analog with oral efficacy rescuing mice in a septicemic peritonitis model.

So proud of @Purdue_MCMP and @FlahertyLab grad student @molly_youse for successfully defending her PhD today! She did an amazing job and we are super excited for her next steps in her scientific career!

This project in collab with Dr. Val Watts and @Purdue_MCMP grad student @tiffany_summerr has gone from hit identification to through two manuscripts. The current scaffold had solubility liabilities and we took an approach to break up the molecular planarity to improve solubility

Our newest paper led by Dr. Shri Annadka presenting modifications on the pyrimidinone scaffold to improve solubility and AC1 inhibition with a new lead molecule with efficacy in a rat model for inflammatory pain. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…
