@FakeTaxedBrass Man I want to see the post that is being replied too bc that is some cold shit!

@LatamSmallArms @Knightly_Hist This man gets it!
Your eyes are way more vulnerable than your cheeks and guess what those shitty masks protect
English

@Knightly_Hist The clear face shield approach in use by many other police forces is a better approach. These mask don't protect the eyes and forbid you from using eye protection too. There is a reason why they are not widely adopted the same as faceshields are.
English

People are calling these useless because they don't make you invulnerable, a tale as old as firearms and armor.
The name makes them underwhelming, but:
Protection against shrapnel, ricochets, small calibres and having a higher chance of surviving getting shot in the face is valuable.
It's cool that these things exist, even if they're not worth it in a warzone, not everything is meant for that to begin with.

@GrandpaRoy2 I think those are actually meant to protect from the sun not act as cope cages. I recall seeing similar sun shields on Merkavas and also NATO tanks in Afghanistan and Iraq

@GMonkey2k3 Stelle es mir einfach nur als klobigeres MG5 vor. Wobei es in einer guten Stellung bestimmt besser zu bedienen ist. Mag die Schulterstütze vom 5er nicht.

During a Field Training Exercise, I was tasked (Challened. There may have been a Bet involved) with the neutralization of the opposition's Captain, who was in his HQ Tent and rarely ever stepped out. We had a storm rolling in that was going to be a problem. So I grabbed a clipboard, some paperwork and did just this. I approached their camp and angrily asked where the Captain was. The Security element didn't question me, and even pointed the way. I marched purposefully in that direction, and when anyone came near, I interrogated them about the Captain's location. More pointing.
When I reached the Tent in question and asked where the Captain was, more pointing. The Captain stood up and came over to me, getting rather angry himself.
I handed him the clipboard and said that he had to sign the papers. At this moment, the storm had rolled in and it started raining hard, with big gusts of wind.
The Captain took the clipboard and started looking at the completely random paperwork that had nothing to do with his unit at all.
During this time, I unslung my M4 and flipped it up.
When the Captain looked up at me, I gave him the full magazine worth of Blanks until his MILES GEAR went off, and dove under the back of the tent and up the hill behind the camp but I didn't go far, as I hid under a bush.
The Camp went berserk and soldiers ran out looking for me... ALL of them ran past where I was, thinking I had gone a LOT farther.
I went back into the camp, walking past the Captain whose MILES GEAR was still screaming. He was red in the face. I winked at him and kept going. He wasn't allowed to do or say anything.
I ended up walking back to my own camp to make my report, which was met with disbelief until radio confirmed the "change of command" for our OPFOR.
