@wiseASDF @lastchalice I think the same of players. I rarely disagree with reviewers (talking only about the reviews of the games I've seen, not about every single game on the planet) but players tend to be way more biased/single-minded and sometimes competitive, they often misrepresent the games.

@lastchalice I am not up in arms, I just think that reviewers are rarely correct. Very often I get the feeling they don't know what they are doing, or what matters.

Video game critic scores are rarely wrong. Nine out of ten times the score is within 10 points of where I’d place it on a 100 point scale. It’s popular to say “I don’t trust critic scores” but I find them more often than not intelligent, experienced & most importantly valuable.

@ZippyW1Z @lastchalice The game could be a 10/10 and it wouldn't have mattered when people deliberately decided they didn't want to play it. The f2p market can be rough. You need to try and put things into context.

@lastchalice You think a game that destroyed a studio is a 6? you know there are numbers below 6 right?

Crimson Desert is going to disappoint a lot of people who have come to expect games to deliver cut-scenes every 5 minutes and spoon feed you gameplay.

@xostacyftw Did you read the post? Why does fast forwarding dialogue always have to mean not caring about the story? They're clearly saying it saves time while still allowing them to understand the context not that they're not invested. It's one of the most basic QOL features in story games.

@wiscolife_01 @Grummz The protagonist is a woman. Countless games have been trashed for being woke just because they had a female protagonist. I guess it doesn't count when it's a game you like?

@Grummz Weird. A single player game doesn't go full-blown DEI or woke, stays true to the lore and sells shit tons of copies. Wheeeird 🤔

@solitairesoc @Whiskeyjack888 @TheHiddenOneAC Actually, to be fair, maybe I missed the point of the OP, so I apologise if I'm off the mark here. But I stand by what I said, it depends on how much focus they designed the game to have on the story.

@solitairesoc @Whiskeyjack888 @TheHiddenOneAC I think comparison to other games kind of misses the point. It depends on how integral the story in this game is. Obviously if it's made to be story-focused but the story sucks, it's going to hurt the overall experience.

I combined the video transcripts of 7 creators that previewed Crimsom Desert for 6 hours today, and here's some interesting takeaways: -Main takeaway was the same for all 7 creators. The game is huge and kind of overwhelming at first. -You can switch between 3 playable characters GTA style or call them to fight alongside you. -Combat is very deep once abilities unlock. Grapples, wrestling moves, air combos, weapon swaps, magic, and huge skill trees. -The world is massive, with hidden caves, camps, puzzles, bounties, and activities everywhere. Some said they barely explored 20% of the first region. -The game leans heavily into physics sandbox gameplay (throw enemies, break objects, use the environment). -Bosses drop unique weapons/abilities, and fights often require different strategies. -Puzzles have almost no handholding, which a few creators think will be divisive. -Several creators said Crimson Desert feels like multiple games mashed together. People compared parts of it to Zelda, Witcher, Assassin’s Creed, GTA, and Dragon’s Dogma. -The skill tree is one of the biggest they’ve seen. Some nodes unlock entire combo systems, not just stat boosts. -You can literally steal moves from enemies by watching them perform them in combat. -Unarmed combat is surprisingly strong, meaning you can build a playstyle around just fists and martial arts. -Biggest concerns across previews: confusing controls, confusing UI, and a weaker early story. PERFORMANCE ON PC -Most creators said the game ran very smoothly on the event PCs, with some reporting 80+ FPS at ultrawide 1440p and others playing native 4K around 60 FPS. -Several previews confirmed the demo was running native resolution with no DLSS/FSR upscaling, which surprised people given the scale and visuals. -Performance was generally stable with only minor issues, like occasional stuttering or small frame drops. -A few people experienced rare crashes or slight pop-in, but overall the consensus was that optimization looked very strong for a preview build.

@YorchTorchGames @GameReGenX HAH YOU SAID IT AGAIN ON THE SAME POST, that's absolutely hilarious. Think a bit before you talk, you could have said you would have liked the game more if its targeted audience were adults but instead implied kids should have access to more sexual content. Get help.

Call me a shameless grifter, but I think the Kena franchise would’ve been far more popular if it had featured an older, sexier main protagonist.

@SonOfSebastianX @PattyXPixel @mrpyo1 Does Code Violet represent the average quality in the industry? Look, I've seen CV, I don't want to play it and never will. I literally haven't thought about it since until you brought it up. Why focus on the bad portion of games when there are so many good ones out there?

Feminists and wokies are hypocrites. They come at me saying, "Yorch, you're a pervert. Kena is a game for kids" Then why does a kid's game feature rainbow indoctrination? In the end, Wokies always love to project themselves. Hypocrisy and degeneracy at their worst.

@Calcifurious @stroopwaffelyt Yes, because revealing games long before their release is something gamers are famously okay with. Gamers will always complain. It doesn't matter what studios do. The only situation in which they don't complain is if a game is unknown and its dev takes a less common strategy.

@stroopwaffelyt Its almost like studios should make a trailer to see if there is even an audience interested in their idea first before wasting years of development making a subpar flop

@KaiKai2492 @guy_namedpat You're contradicting yourself. If Rivals didn't succeed due to the IP, then market-wise it suggests hero shooters are fine, therefore Highguard devs didn't misread the market. If this weren't the case, Rivals' quality wouldn't have mattered.

@guy_namedpat Nah if the game wasn't good it would have been abandoned. Look at Marvels Avengers or Star Wars Outlaws. Rivals continues to be popular.

“Review bombs” No, you just didn’t read the market. The same thing happened with Concord, people are tired of hero shooters and you didn’t make anything unique enough to compete with OW or Rivals. So tired of devs blaming their failures on anyone but themselves. Not even saying the game was horrible but it just wasn’t what people wanted.
Dexerto@Dexerto

A former Highguard developer blames “gamer culture” for the downfall of the game “Within minutes, it was decided: This game was dead on arrival ... at launch, we received over 14k review bombs from users with less than an hour of playtime”

@Grummz They're not wrong just because they're the whining about this. I can't remember the last time a widely known game wasn't subjected to absurd ridicule from gamers online. A crashout MIGHT be too much but I also think people who don't enjoy games should just shut up sometimes.

When did AAA devs get so whiney??? All I see is post after post from Highguard devs blaming everyone but themselves. They put in a ton of work, the game wasn't what people wanted. Mistakes happen. Lots of Work does not mean Lots of Value automatically.
