I went on a date with a guy who acted like my personal financial advisor the entire night. Dinner was going fine until I ordered salmon. The man looked at the menu, looked at me, and said, “You know that’s the most expensive thing on here, right?” I laughed because I genuinely thought he was joking. He wasn’t. He suggested I get pasta instead because, “It’s basically the same amount of food for less money.” Sir, if the entrée is causing you emotional distress, maybe dating should not be on the budget right now. But it got worse. When the waiter asked if I wanted sparkling or still water, this man actually said, “Tap is fine for both of us.” BOTH of us??? I had suddenly become part of a household budget meeting. Then dessert came around and I said I wanted tiramisu. He goes, “We don’t need dessert.” WE??? Who is “we”??? By the end of the date, I felt less like a romantic prospect and more like a struggling branch location he’d been sent to restructure.

It has been a hugely anxious wait knowing that Worboys was up for parole again. The relief I feel knowing that he will remain behind bars is hard to put into words. Women and girls across Britain are safer as a result of this decision.

Yes, the people who call themselves 'trans' exist and they deserve exactly the same rights as everyone else, which, fortunately, they already have in the UK. It would rightly be considered discrimination if a person was refused employment, housing or the vote because they identified as trans. 'Trans women are women' is a thought-terminating cliché. Men are not women. That doesn't mean they're not allowed to present themselves however they like, call themselves whatever they like and believe whatever they like about themselves. It means they haven't changed sex. If we replace the objective, observable characteristic of sex with the unfalsifiable concept of gender identify, women and girls lose, among other things, their right to fair and safe sport and women-only spaces, including changing rooms, prison cells and rape crisis services. Women and girls are provably more vulnerable to forms of abuse including sexual assault, harassment and voyeurism in mixed-sex spaces. There is no evidence that trans-identified men don't have exactly the same rates of criminal offending as all other men. Trans people exist. I have no desire for them not to exist; indeed, I wish them safety, happiness and health. However, 'existence' does not, and should not, mean the violation of other people's right to privacy, dignity and freedom of speech, or the reconfiguration of society to indulge a fallacy.

Men like Alan Cumming, Alistair Campbell & Rory Stewart being so publicly disappointed with feminists, for horror of horrors, standing firm on sex based rights, miss how feminism is only ever somewhat popular in retrospect, when hard fought rights have fully bedded in.

Jk Rowling is often spoken about like she is some lone wolf that’s full of hatred. She’s not. She is continuously fighting for women’s rights with her platform and funding the legal battles of women with the money she’s earned from her creations. She’s a woman with means who’s helping millions of women have a voice in a time where their rights are being infringed upon. Many of us support her. She is not alone.
