@adnipsIE @neffnaps I mean, the number of voice lines per expansion has been increasing a lot over the years. Got a chart here that says Lama'ty has about 3.000 lines of dialogue, but Zero who has been introduced and vanished on EW Patches has about 1.000. XIV is just adding more voice lines. Good.

dawntrail is a solid expansion when you don’t have people bitching in your ear about it
there are definitely valid criticisms but man, it really is not as terrible as some folks make it out to be

@balgannis Doing that you're pushing away people that need to fall in love to the game first so they can develop the desire to play the story after.
Not everybody is a story lover, but they can grow into it.

A un MMO se viene a vivir una mega aventura. Si tan solo quieres matar jefes creo que hay otros géneros mejor, juega un Monster Hunter Wilds.

It’s 2026, we are gonna be 6 expansions deep into FFXIV soon. Can we stop with the weird gatekeepy behavior if someone doesn’t want to play through 250 hours of story to be able to play some of the best MMO raid encounters ever made? Heaven forbid someone asks you a small lore question if they start getting interested in the story after starting the game 10 years late. Are we really gonna keep driving people away with this weird NIMBY ritual? Just use your social skills (lol) and answer the small question, suggest they start a story alt on their downtime, or direct them to a synopsis video on YouTube. Crying about “story skippers” this deep into a game’s development cycle is peak cringe. If they set up a skip to Dawntrail for new characters to jump into the new story arc I and many others feel like it would be beneficial for the game’s long term health. While the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc is great storytelling it’s also not a sacred cow for people to clutch pearls over. At the end of the day, it’s a game to be played. We’re all better than this and should start acting like it.

The 250 hours ARE the best MMO experience.
FFXIV is about the journey, not the destination, skipping is stupid because you're essentially paying to skip the part that the game is known for lol
Like easy mode for a souls like or a non scary mode for a horror game

@snark_talks Idea: Give them the Skip option (to dawntrail), but add a Fantasia at the end of each expansion MSQ to incentivize clearing after you're already engaged with the game.

@NeeK2323 I understand what they were going with, i.e. it being a closed seal during pre-patch and then when it launches it changes to the exposed hole. But people just prefer the traditional log in screen.
