@KeepItFrankLive So not true. Look at how critics gave good reviews to marvel movies until they didnt. 85% is not that big audience score. It is similar to five nights at freddys. These are all people who choosed to see the movie and it is very hard to dissapoint them.

I think there’s a big gap between regular moviegoers and the critics or cinephiles who only value really highbrow, “artsy” films. There’s this ongoing battle where big, commercial movies get loved by audiences but often trashed by critics. Audiences are speaking; they’re having fun, they love these films, but they’re not getting the recognition because the so called snobs put them down. And I think this whole divide is really hurting Hollywood. That’s why I believe Wuthering Heights is getting huge love from audiences but getting slammed by critics, especially men, because this movie wasn’t made for them. It was made for the people who ACTUALLY go to the theater and just want to enjoy a great time. A film doesn’t have to be some lofty, artsy masterpiece to be considered good. If it connects with people, if it entertains, then it’s good. And that’s what matters most to the people who show up and pay to see it. #WutheringHeights

I get the narrative for PTA, truly, but as pointed out, the Adapted SP win gets him that elusive Oscar. There’s never been a Black winner in directing, & no Black director has been nominated more than once in this category. I’d argue that’s more overdue than a PTA win.
