@justthinking_2 @Jazeyfantazy @r_c_durrant Definitely seen them in Weymouth. We found loads of the grubs in rotten logs too. It was a while ago but still…

@BBCSpringwatch could you mention how bad Pheasants are for predating our native reptiles. People think they just eat seeds. Nasty non native invasive species.

@Dianegreenqueen @DarrenMGriffith @whittledaway My dandelions are quite behind this year. Not sure why. Still a bit cold I guess.
English

@DarrenMGriffith @whittledaway Bees do love willows at this time of year; but I think the point of this tweet was a simple request to let dandelions grow. No fuss, no going out having to spend money. Just let dandelions grow 🙂
English

@Alayanabeth @DarrenMGriffith @whittledaway And ivy. Everything loves ivy except my neighbour who leant across his fence and cut through the trunk of a magnificent one that was a massive hat on the roof of my shed. Bees and birds loved it. Pollen, berries and cover. Killed it. Still furious. 🤬
English

@DarrenMGriffith @whittledaway I have certainly seen bumbles on dandelions (and lots of other pollinators too) but it's true they adore willows. Right now my decidedly non-native flowering cherry is alive with bumbles keeping themselves fueled while the pussy willows are just beginning to open.
English

@walshrac @whittledaway I have two very beautiful single early flowering Japanese cherries. Okame (very early, late Feb-March) and The Bride (now) Always full of bees.
English

@whittledaway What's the first useful flower for them, Pádraic? Before the dandelions come up? I was thinking that on the daffs, more for us than anything else :/
English

@PortlandBirdObs Exciting news. One in Chickerell last year on 8th May. Will keep an eye/ear open.

Trenchant condemnation by @MarkAvery of the incontinent release of millions of non native game birds like Red-legged Partridge and Pheasant into the countryside on Farming Today. Every birder should thank @WildJustice_org for their work in this area @ChrisGPackham @RuthTingay
