OFFICIAL STATEMENT My dear people of Surulere Constituency I, I greet you all with profound respect and gratitude. A few days ago, I obtained the nomination form to seek a return mandate to the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Surulere Constituency I. I write to formally inform all residents, workers, political associates, leaders, stakeholders, and the good people of Surulere of this decision. This step is born out of my continued commitment to serve, to consolidate the progress we have made together, and to further advance our collective aspirations. I remain deeply grateful for the trust, encouragement, and solidarity you have shown me over the years. By the grace of God, my return to the House will confer ranking status on our constituency. In a system where experience is recognized, this position will attract greater attention and benefits for our people. To our party leaders in Surulere Local Government, ward executives, community leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and all stakeholders across Lagos State and beyond: I sincerely appreciate your unwavering support, guidance, and belief in our shared vision. I appeal to all my supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and focused. Let us continue to uphold peace, unity, and respect as we move forward on this journey together. Our strength has always been in our togetherness, and I am confident that the same spirit will see us through. I do not take your support for granted. Together, we will continue to build a stronger Surulere and contribute meaningfully to the development of Lagos State. Thank you all. May we continue to move forward in unity and purpose. Signed, Hon. Desmond Olushola Elliott Member representing Surulere Constituency I Lagos State House of Assembly

It doesn’t even make sense to want to conmand same salary as someone in d US/CA. Rent is cheap, taxes are relatively cheaper, LCOL. You people should be realistic. Som1 in TX will earn less than som1 in NY in the same company. Diasporeans should stop shortchanging people too.

On this diaspora salary issue No follow people dey charge what you think you should charge. Assess yourself and charge what you are worth Not everyone inspiring you to charge 5k USD is charging 5k USD. Some of them just got that 5k USD once in their career. Some of them still take 500 USD jobs on a steads. So, assess and charge. And yes, salary based on location is a thing. If you work with Google in Nairobi, you can NEVER be paid the same as the Google staff in Palo Alto. Because the cost of living in Palo Alto is wild. So its a thing. but it does not justify a rip-off Also, the person in the UK or Canada does not need to pay you Canada or UK rate by default. your skill level can push it to that level though, but its not default. And to the Nigerians in the UK(especially), just because you don't have to pay UK rate doesn't mean you should pay sty rates like you're paying a pig. If you don't have money for a startup, continue your work or build it yourself.

Everyone on twitter is a billionaire and life is good. Who are the people earning N300k in Lagos leaving home 5am to return 9pm?

Why do companies that hire people in india,Philippines, Mexico pay less? Be mad and all, but that’s the reality nd honest truth. Location plays a big part in TC. Are there outliers? Yes, but majority of talents in NG will be paid less than market rate until we fix our country.

I actually understand what he is saying even though delivery is wrong. Companies regularly offshore talents because it is affordable. NGns talent can’t command the same salary comp. as western talents. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the way it is. There’s a reason for japa.

The unfortunate incident occurred when operatives attached to Area Command Effurun received credible intelligence from members of the public regarding the deceased, who was reportedly apprehended while attempting to waybill a parcel containing a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition. Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police directed the Area Commander, Effurun, to immediately arrest ASP Nuhu Usman and transfer him to the State Headquarters, Asaba, for necessary disciplinary action. The officer has since been queried and transferred to Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he will appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee, currently in session, for immediate disciplinary sanction and prosecution. The Command, in line with the policy of the Nigeria Police Force, emphasizes respect for the rule of law, human rights, professionalism, accountability and public trust. The Command further reaffirms its zero tolerance for lawlessness, recklessness and extra-judicial conduct. The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, extends his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, Mene Ogidi, and assures the bereaved family that the Command is fully committed to ensuring that justice is served.
