RESPONSE FROM AIRLINK: HANTAVIRUS @Fly_Airlink operated flight 4Z 132 from St Helena Island to Johannesburg on 25th April 2026. There were 82 passengers and 6 crew onboard. On Sunday 02 May 2026, Airlink was notified by South Africa’s public health authorities that a passenger who had flown on the flight had passed away after she arrived in Johannesburg and that her death was attributed to the rare Hantavirus. At the time when the flight was operated Airlink was unaware that any of the passengers were unwell. In accordance with health protocols, Airlink provided the Dept of Health with the passenger manifest for contact tracing. The manifest included the names, contact details and seating allocation of the passengers and crew. Airlink is also contacting passengers who were on that flight and advising them to contact South Africa’s Department of Health, if they have not yet already been contacted by the Department. The safety and wellbeing of our customers, personnel and equipment is Airlink’s priority. Airlink operates, maintains and services - including cleaning - its aircraft in strict accordance with pertinent public health and aviation regulations and requirements. Airlink’s fleet of Embraer aircraft are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate (HEPA) air filters, similar to those used in hospital operating surgical theatres, which repeatedly scrub the cabin air clean.

Following reports that the World Health Organisation (@WHO) has initiated urgent contact tracing for passengers and crew aboard Airlink flight HLE-JNB on 25 April 2026, we are seeking comment on the following as a matter of public interest: 1. What steps have been taken subsequent to the female Dutch passenger's confirmed cause of death being hantavirus? 2. Is the aircraft back in service? 3. Was Airlink informed prior to departure of the nature of her husband's death? 4. How many passengers were aboard the flight? 5. How many crew were aboard the flight? I’m extremely disappointed & frankly outraged by what happened to my checked baggage on yesterday evenings’ flight 4Z107 from Harare to Johannesburg with Airlink. @ortambo_int @Fly_Airlink My suitcase was clearly tampered with opened without my consent. Very alarming i must say.

✈️ Dear @Fly_Airlink THIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY😕😡 🚨 I’m writing this to publicly expose what I experienced with your airline, because this cannot be normal or acceptable. I booked my flight 2 months in advance, everything paid, everything confirmed. I arrive at the airport thinking it’s a smooth check-in… only to be told there’s an "issue" with my name on your system apparently it only showed my initials and surname instead of my full names. Now here’s the shocking part… Instead of simply verifying my identity (which I had FULL proof of ID AND passport in hand), your staff decided the solution was to charge me R790 just to "edit" my name on your own system error. Let that sink in… 👉 YOUR system error 👉 MY money And I say that because I booked with my full names and your staff said maybe it's because my names are long.. I even escalated the matter to the supervisor on duty, expecting some level of professionalism or assistance… but instead, she showed zero willingness to help and proceeded to enforce this ridiculous charge like it’s normal practice. How do you justify charging a customer R790 for something that and paying huge sums of rands to book my flights, something that • Was NOT my fault • Could be verified instantly with official documents • Took literally seconds to fix This is not customer service, this is exploitation, in fact u stealing from us. We are already paying high ticket prices, and now we must budget extra for your internal mistakes too? 😭 I am formally demanding a full refund of R790 back into my account within 24 hours. You cannot continue taking people’s hard-earned money under the guise of "policies" when the fault lies entirely with your own system. If this is not resolved urgently, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter further through the relevant consumer protection channels and publicly pursue accountability. Do the right thing. Also check your Emails because this same tweet is on your emails Mxm📍
