(4:54pm) Dry line sitting right over the Metroplex. Green values are dew points, lower numbers are dry air. There’s lots of fuel along and ahead of the line and clouds are attempting to break a weak cap. Next two hours will be telling. If a storm pops, will build quickly. #TXwx

@mhp_guy Would it kill the Metroplex to build a fake mountain or something to at least add to the skyline instead of another 1990’s generic building?

This is the best real estate in the world. 1:1:1 Chipotle to Chick-Fil-A to Crumbl ratio. More HOAs per capita than anywhere on Earth. Only 3.5% property taxes. Only 45 minutes to downtown Dallas. Every house has a privacy fence. Current entry level price: $1.2 million

@bayrakmedya All have a probability of being stopped except for C, assuming we are disregarding the slosh phenomenon. So based solely on probability, C is the most likely to be correct though the answer itself is unknowable

@IMAO_ Time dilation. The closer you get to the speed of light the less time it takes to get there, relative to your experienced time. It’s still more than 11 years experienced on Earth before he’d get back.

Near the end of Project Hail Mary, I think the computer said it would take four years to get home but I thought he was over eleven light-years away. Did I miss something? Is that some relativity thing?

@Fnaftaft @DJSnM @joerogan I don't hate Rogan but, yes, he rarely has guests I'm interested in. (Reminds me, I still have to watch the @Triggernometry guys' last one.) Usually it's fellow pugilists and what I like to call ostensible comedians.

Ok what do I do in Austin for the next few hours? There all these events that need passes or invites so I’m not getting to those, just going to wander and look at stuff

@thweetnic @CollinRugg What exactly is the breakthrough? We have jets, modern manufacturing, and engines. I don’t see a breakthrough; I see someone trying to get into the news If you make ten million units, cost comes down to this, sure. But that’s also not going to happen

Shawn Ryan astounded after 22-year-old CEO Ethan Thornton of Mach Industries, a defense tech startup, tells him he will give him a "miniature fighter jet." The Viper is a 6.5-foot vertical takeoff "miniature fighter jet" that can take off and land if needed. It reportedly costs under $100,000 per unit, can reach speeds of 600 mph, and has a range of several hundred miles. Insane. Video: @ShawnRyan762

@CollinRugg $100k for something that flies 600 mph? That sounds either revolutionary or terrifying

LOL - 3.5GW solar plant built for $0.61/watt all-in. Cost per kWh probably sub 2 cents per kWh, add batteries, maybe 3-4 cents. Only other power that comes close is really big wind. No concrete foundations, no grading. Just inert steel driven into the ground. As we use to say, it’s a placeholder for future development with all minimal footprint. #SolarIsEatingTheWorld
Ben Norton@BenjaminNorton

A Chinese state-owned company just opened the world's largest solar power plant. The solar farm features more than 5.26 million PV panels of 650W each, for a total of 3.5 GW. It cost CNY 15.45 billion (USD $2.13 billion) to build. pv-magazine.com/2024/06/06/wor…

@bradsferguson @alex_avoigt L1 Lagrange point magnetic field would probably be the answer. Redirecting solar winds actually requires surprisingly little energy (1-2 Tesla/170-340kW) and the planet would cease losing its atmo. Not even a megawatt of power

@TSLAFanMtl Keep in mind 4680 is a structural pack. So in reality it’s actually much lighter and in the lead compare with other cells. Other batteries are dead weight.

Just 3 years ago, Tesla detailed their plans for a new battery design that would feature a number of innovations, including innovative manufacturing methods. Not only did they design the cell, but also all of the machinery to build the cell, the battery pack etc. - all from scratch. There are only a handful of companies that build batteries at this scale globally. In just 3 years, Tesla already has a battery pack in mass production and in a vehicle that has better pack-lvl energy density than Panasonic’s 2170 cell packs. In only the 4680 cell’s 2nd iteration and before many other cost and energy improvements. Incredible accomplishment. Anyone who claims 4680 a failure bc Tesla is behind its own ridiculous benchmark that *it set for itself* is not serious and needs to broaden their perspective.
Troy Teslike@TroyTeslike

Here is a comparison. Higher is better Energy density at the pack level: • 187 Wh/kg Model S/X 18650 cells • 170 Wh/kg Cybertruck 4680 cells • 169 Wh/kg Rivian R1T Large Pack 2170 cells • 165 Wh/kg Model 3/Y Long Range 2170 cells • 126 Wh/kg Model 3 Standard Range LFP cells
