I have the best readers! Our 2025 @kristofimpact holiday drive raised $51.9 million for three great nonprofits; that's equivalent to the 76th biggest philanthropic funder in the US. And since two of the nonprofits work in Africa, we were equivalent to the the 13th biggest philanthropic funder of work in Africa. At a bleak time when there is much that is depressing, I find that reader response heartening. We may not be able to "solve" problems as we would like, and the state of the world is enormously frustrating. But together, with the guidance of @FocusPhilanthro we helped kids overcome disease, hunger and illiteracy and gave them a better shot -- and this drive touched 12 million lives. So thank you to readers and to @BloombergDotOrg for extraordinary matches. And thanks to the three nonprofits in my 2025 giving guide: @MutualAidSudan and its ERRs; @HelenKellerIntl and, in the US, @VisionToLearn. They're great organizations deserving of this remarkable response. There's something called "solutions journalism" that aims not just to point out problems but also to offer a way forward.
