At our Rental Ripoff Hearings, we’ll come together as neighbors to bring the issues we’ve faced out in the open and build momentum for the REST Act, which will expand our rent stabilization laws so it’s easier for cities to adopt it and freeze the rent.

Upstate cities have the legal right to opt into rent stabilization but face an unnecessarily high barrier to opt in. We rallied tenants from across the the state to pass my bill, the REST Act (A04877), that gives localities outside of NYC more control to stabilize rents.

Tenants deserve REST! 🗣️ We rallied in Albany yesterday with tenants from around the state to demand our lawmakers pass the REST Act, which would expand New York’s rent stabilization laws so it’s easier for towns and cities across the state to adopt it.

Tenants and elected officials from every part of NY are rallying today in Albany to expand rent stabilization and rental assistance! Trump’s budget cuts are hitting New York tenants hard and the REST Act and HAVP vouchers would make rent affordable!
