A New York law passed in 2023 bars health care providers from reporting medical debt and prevents credit bureaus from recording it. In 2025, we estimated that $241M–$337M was removed from credit reports. A model that other states can follow. Read more aarp.org/advocacy/medic…

With final budget negotiations underway, nearly 500,000 New Yorkers are at risk of losing health coverage on July 1. This interview helps explain what’s at stake. We’re calling on @GovKathyHochul @AndreaSCousins & Speaker Carl Heastie to take action to protect our health care.

This week in Albany- I’m proud to sign on as a co-sponsor of A.10926/S.9589 to protect health coverage for New Yorkers threatened by federal cuts under H.R. 1. Half a million New Yorkers could lose their Essential Plan coverage. Many are working people, small business employees, students, gig workers, and immigrants who cannot afford to be left uninsured. Health care is a right, not a commodity, and New York must act to make sure no one loses coverage because Washington walked away. Thank you @CSSNYorg for your advocacy on this issue!

🔴NEW REPORT Gig work is sold as flexible. But for many New Yorkers, the reality is constant surveillance and app‑based control. Nearly 4 in 5 gig workers are pushed to work longer or at specific times — and most want stronger government rules. Read more cssny.us/GIGECONOMY

First, they came for health care. Now, housing is next. A new federal rule could strip housing assistance from mixed-status families—putting ~80,000 people, including 37,000 children, at risk. New York leaders must stand up for our neighbors. Read more: cssny.us/486YhSs
