Significant progress has been achieved in the HIV response through the structured engagement #PLHIV in ending #AIDS as a public health threat. Our commitment to adherence to treatment has been central to the progress achieved towards achieving the 95-95-95 targets driving down HIV incidence and ending AIDS. In 2024, approximately 1.3 million people worldwide became newly infected with HIV, marking a 61% decrease from the epidemic's peak in 1996. To sustain this progress even amidst funding cuts, over 40 million PLHIV through the first World AIDS Day Report by @gnpplus are asking for these seven bare minimum of services. Mwisho, those taps will run dry. Soon. Since October 2023, I have collectively spent K46,773.89 ferrying 5000 liter water bowsers to my Meanwood Ibex residence. I have both an 80 and 50 meter dry boreholes on site. My friend shelled out K123,492.67 drilling. It was a dry 100 meter well with dust billowing out. The water table in this area designated under Chongwe, stretching over Salama Park, Chainda, Twin Palm and Waterfalls is under extreme stress. We are all drilling from the same aquifer. It is a strange sight of a league of a thousand green boreholes gracing the skyline and a dozen septic tanks beneath mixing up human waste with water. I went round the neighborhood and collected over 20 signatures from residents willing to finance their own pipelines from Lusaka Water. In 2025, that matter is still stuck at administrative processing and bottlenecks with water engineers. Meanwhile, 100 more housing developments have come up, each competing to pump water from the same flow and aquifer. Lusaka is mismanaging water. By 2030, the capital city will run dry. It will be a self-inflicted crisis
