@RoyalGuardian6 a couple years ago it came out that somewhere in the ballpark of 80% of modern Star Wars comics were/are traced over fanart, thats probably why.

Man, there was something about how SW comics used to draw ships. They’re too precise now, I like the slight differences that they used to have in classic comics, it made them feel so alive. No ships were perfectly identical, like every shipyard had slight aesthetic differences.

@LucasFryman Honestly the only thing I see changing is her personality when she does it. In the comic she a full on psycho like conquest. The show Anissa comes across as to cold and calculating. This will be just another job to her. She not even gonna say anything after just fly off.

Exactly. Inviting the audience to take the journey with you so that their imagination does the heavy lifting of explaining the lore behind the characters makes the story efficient and rewarding. Detailing the characters backstory line by line is tedious and inefficient story telling. Sadly, so many have become accustomed to searching the internet for 'cannon' behind characters, it puts undo burden on creators to work these details in. It sidetracks the story and removes the mystery. In recent years, forcing in unnecessary modern messaging has burdened story telling even further. It has reached the point of critical mass in which so much unnecessary bloat has been introduced that audiences prefer older stories or stories from cultures overseas.

George Lucas knew that in order for characters like those on the right to work, they need to be used sparingly, seen through the eyes of characters like those on the left. Once you take the characters on the right and make THEM the main protagonists, they lose their mystique and become mundane.

pretty wild how i could animate fairly realistic armored combat with homemade action figures and hollywood still can’t figure it out with an infinite budget

Quasi-related: what Favreau and Filoni miss (and Lucas understood) whenever they talk about their bullshit being steeped in westerns/Kurosawa is that those stories were rife with melodrama, and their stoic characters felt otherworldly as a result. Here it’s just default & dull
DiscussingFilm@DiscussingFilm

Dave Filoni & Jon Favreau reveal that Embo from ‘THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU’ is originally inspired by Kyuzo in ‘SEVEN SAMURAI’. “Embo was one of the ones that George [Lucas] kind of had brought to us from stuff he had thought up.”

The politics of the Star Wars prequels is so funny in that they're clearly a sort of War on Terror liberal parable about how crises create the conditions for the erosion of liberty and rise of authoritarianism but George Lucas is also visibly quite sceptical about democracy

To paraphrase what the “Principles of Tezuka” are, he essentially had 3 core rules, no topic is off limits in writing, but you must 1) never insult or undermine victims of war 2) never insult the profession of the everyman 3) show empathy for those you may not directly relate to

@LukewSavage isn't that the point though? authoritarianism takes over when democracy fails. there's no reason for anyone to elect a strongman if the system is working properly, but a dysfunctional and bureaucratic government is the perfect target for any would-be tyrant
