My word. The media is talking about a R4.00 increase for petrol and R7.00 increase for diesel. And Eskom's 8.8% tariff hike kicks in on 1 April. I'm not usually one for doom and gloom but this is all pretty shit, to put it mildly.

The President of South Africa is not in Chicago to “enjoy American freedom.” He is here to honour a man who stood with South Africa’s anti-apartheid struggle at a time when the United States was still supporting the apartheid regime and those who enforced it. He is here to honour a global icon revered by the very Black South Africans the apartheid state sought to crush and erase. He is here to honour a leader who came to South Africa, who walked the dusty streets of our townships alongside our parents and grandparents, and who gave moral courage to a struggle the world once tried to ignore. Ramaphosa is here to offer comfort and respect to @rep_jackson and the Jackson family who shared this extraordinary man with South Africa over many decades! You do not get to impose your politics on our history. Not today! President Ramaphosa will leave Chicago tomorrow and travel to Brazil on official business. You, meanwhile, can enjoy YOUR freedom to drop bombs across the world.

No friend of the Ayatollah is a friend of ours. South Africa’s president is cozying up to the Iranian regime while grandstanding and enjoying American freedom in Chicago.

1. She's pays for 2. You get visitors parking 3. This is the most important one, she is liable for everything that happens on that parking, if your visitor comes with a car that leaks oil, she will have to pay the body corporate to get it cleaned up. So yes let her complain.

Many people actually like reading. But there’s also a lot of reading policing. But if reading is becoming an “aesthetic”, then that’s also good. Never underestimate the power of something becoming cool.
Nehemiah Abba Obeze@obeze_abba

I’ve realized that many people don’t actually love reading books. They love the identity of being someone who reads books. The aesthetic of it. The photos. The intellectual vibe. But the quiet discipline of reading slowly and thinking deeply? That part is very unpopular.

There is a reason why abantu live by the principle of ubuntu. We are a people that appreciates community and togetherness, we believe that umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu. This desire to be inkomo edla yodwa stems from being consumed by western customs and traditions. Black people need to fight this urge of wanting to align to western traditions more, there is nothing wrong with the community showing you support at a time of grief. The community itself may feel the loss of that person. So yes, grief is personal and it is not only felt by the family. Friends, neighbours, congregants and colleagues that loved that particular person also feel the grief.
La-Ndlovu@destiny_ndlovu

Unpopular opinion: Funerals aren’t community events. They should be for family only. Grief is personal. Not everything needs to be public.
