A 50 BPS cut & most of the people would’ve been thinking we’d have huge downsides on Dollar.
Exactly what I anticipated on only a short term downside even with a 50bps cut. A quick liquidity grab to the downside but snapping back above the range.
Why was this anticipated?
These cuts have been hugely anticipated & priced in by market participants & investors. To have had more aggressive Dollar Bears & downsides we’d have needed J.Powell to have given more aggressive Dovish statements which we clearly did not get.
If we hold above 101’s & do not break back below DXY easily back into range highs & even breaking above 102’s. Gold Bears aka sells atleast into 2530’s/2525’s unless we get any new extremely weak US Data to support Gold buys & Dollar Bears.

XAUUSD FOMC Trade Ideas 18.09.2024 📝
Looking at Gold we printed new ATH’s last week breaking out of the consolidation we were stuck in over a month & saw a decent upside.
Market Participants highly anticipate a 50BPS rate cut & the probabilities are around 55-60%.
However I personally think that the Feds will do a 25BPS rate cut & take it slow & steady & a 50BPS would be too aggressive to start the cut cycle.
1. 50 BPS Rate Cut + New Dovish Comments 🕊️
• Buys above 2582’s & 2589’s
2. 25 BPS Rate Cut + No New Dovish Comments :
• Sells below 2568’s/2562’s & 2557’s.
• High Risk sells either if we get a liquidity grab to the upside around 2589.500’s or we get a short lived break to the upside but failures to hold above snapping back below 2589’s.
3. No Rate Cut :
This would be a surprise & lead to clean Dollar Bulls & aggressive Gold sells.
• Sells below 2568’s/2562’s & 2557’s & extended continuations.
