Not one Q about Fort Point's civic/community facility investments today, as Councilor Flynn faced the City's Property Mgmt and Facilities teams at a budget hearing. Fort Point's 25-year budget will remain $0.00 thru 2027. youtu.be/infoY-JWDpo?si… Curious about Arts & Culture? 👇🏽

Clr Flynn, who represents roughly 350 artists in Fort Point alone, failed to attend today's budget hearing on Arts & Culture. The proposed 2027 budget cuts funding for Mayor's Office of Arts & Culture (MOAC) by 27%, possibly the deepest % of all depts. youtube.com/watch?v=uFD-tV…

WS’s newly converted quarter-acre plastic park on Harbor Way perfectly complements the low-maintenance plastic gardens WS brought to its “Italian piazza” at Echelon. WS, the region’s largest retail-led developer, delivered for investors. Only topped by Legacy Place in Dedham.

As WS quietly converts an entire quarter-acre park of natural grass to plastic grass, Fidelity introduces a new public space on Commonwealth Pier (below). With the exception of a few planters and trees, it’s low-maintenance concrete. Fidelity’s Harborwalk is mostly concrete too.

Was hoping fountains ⛲️ along this hardscaped area on Seaport Common would be fixed for major events this summer. The fountains have been broken for nearly a decade, since shortly after WS Development acquired Seaport Common from BGI. MBTA head house? District Hall? A disgrace.

@CharlieLew52 E-bikes provide an option for people to move around the City with ease. Fewer people electing to drive cars eases congestion. The program is massively popular and its expanding rapidly. I encourage you to try one.

Councilor Flynn, continuing his relentless assault on Boston's economic security thru opposition to proven mobility solutions that ease commuting to downtown, just opposed the City of Boston's highly successful, 100% self-funded, e-bike program. "I don't support that program."

@EdforBoston @BOSCityCouncil Councilor, you didn't simply suggest improvements to the City's highly-successful, 100% self-funded, e-bike program. You stated, "I don't support the program." While I'm sure you're frustrated by my corrections, the issue is that you're repeatedly misleading constituents.

At today’s @BOSCityCouncil budget hearing, we discussed public works and the transportation department. I advocated for a residential parking program throughout SB, fix sidewalks in SB, Chinatown,South End and the city’s e-bike program (must use helmets and respect traffic laws).

@FortPointer I was at the hearing today and it’s surreal - he talks about pedestrian safety but shot down SBTAP in its entirety, a plan that involved years of work with specific recommendations to make his neighborhood safer. Rejected it outright.

@RFreedman66 You mean the "poors" that can afford a car, insurance, excise, maintenance and more? How about the "poors" that don't own a car that are stuck in congestion trying to get to work? Have you heard a single expert in transit/transpo support your views, an opinion based on vibes?

Congestion pricing only works where there’s a commitment to investing in public transit. But it’s knee-jerk opposition to proven ideas — congestion pricing, elimination of parking minimums, and more, that have made commuting intolerable. Officials need to take responsibility.

Clr. Culpepper just called for a moratorium on the addition of BlueBike stations in D7. He states the locations are "awkward." Again, IMO, anti-mobility positions have been a direct assault on Boston's economic security. These solutions get ppl to jobs downtown, and out of cars.

To take my point a step further, we have Councilors, Back Bay Association, and any number of forces opposing the streamlining of access to jobs downtown. Forces opposing bus lanes, proven mobility solutions and more. Where/who are countervailing forces pushing back? Crickets.
The Fort Pointer@FortPointer

Edelman’s not wrong IMO. But he doesn’t recognize that so-called “leaders” are directly responsible for making commuting intolerable. They allow(ed) MBTA to become an embarrassment. They fail(ed) to support investments and proven ideas. So what’s changed? bostonglobe.com/2026/05/04/bus…
