What if the Summit reflected Trump, chastened by the magnet/critical minerals cutoff, trying to come to terms with the reality of Chinese power?

The front-runner's curse: In race for UN secretary-general, a strong start can prove fatal. My latest take on the race for top UN job. devex.com/news/in-race-f…

Spoke with UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres about advancing @POTUS’ vision for a more effective, efficient, and accountable @UN focused on peace. I emphasized Luke Lindberg is the right leader for @WFP—his appointment is essential to ensuring @UN operates with the transparency and accountability required to feed the world. We also discussed U.S. efforts at the UN to stop Iran’s unlawful actions in the Strait of Hormuz, and how the U.S. rapidly mobilized resources to support the response to the #Ebola outbreak in the DRC and Uganda.

Update: the latest number of cosponsors for the US/GCC draft has reached 129. Two additions in the latest list are Somalia & DRC both Security Council members. Still no word on when this will be put to a vote especially in light of recent comments by China’s Ambassador (currently the president of the Security Council).

"If we get a good energetic secretary general, there’s just a glimmer of hope that they might be able to navigate the storm." Me, ever the optimist, to @IsabelColes @ObserverUK. observer.co.uk/news/internati…
