According to CNN, Oman proposed dividing the shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormoz into 2 routes: • Southern route through Omani waters, with free and unrestricted passage • Northern route through Iranian waters, which would require prior authorization from Iran, but without fees. This proposal is still under negotiation, and Iranian and Omani officials have discussed it in Muscat.
