I'm excited that I can finally share that my last startup, Removaly, was acquired by @DuckDuckGo! 🎉 -- it was also their first ever acquisition 🙌 What a whirlwind of emotions. It’s been wild having something acquired that started out as a small bootstrapped side project, which then turned into a full-time job — all while my 3 kids were ages 5 and under at the time. There's sooo many feelings, learnings, and life lessons I want to share but I'm not sure the best way to communicate them. For now, I'll say that I’m thankful to God for the journey and can’t believe how much I’ve grown both personally and professionally through this process. As I’ve talked to 100+ founders over the last handful of months, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s most important to bank our hope as entrepreneurs and as individuals not on an acquisition or our own definition of success, but on something bigger than ourselves. For me that’s Jesus Christ, and my relationship with Him will continue to be the thing I’m most thankful for in life. It would take 1,000+ status updates to cover all the nuances of my feelings towards the acquisition and the takeaways from building Removaly (maybe I should do that??), but I wanted to take this time to thank everyone who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me along the way! 🏆 The bootstrapped community on Twitter is strong and I couldn't have done it without you all! 💪 P.S. I still respond to basically every DM & love helping out other founders and aspiring entrepreneurs so if you ever want to chat about an idea you have, don't hesitate to DM me! 👍

Getting a 1099-NEC tax form from X was not something I had on my bingo card for 2025 before the year started. Nice!

Once we had a miscue in our family and our 14 year old, Jack, was stuck at school after basketball practice without a ride home. I texted him and told him to scrounge a ride home. Five minutes later, "I can't. Everyone's gone." So I drove down and picked him up. At dinner that night we were talking about him not getting a ride and I said with a smile on my face, "When I was a teenager I hitchhiked across America ........ twice."

This simple tip has changed the momentum of my day completely: Test your changes after taking a break, not before. Sometimes we finish a feature and decide we'll test it and then take a break... If it ends up that it's still not working, I take a break and come back a bit defeated. If I take a break BEFORE testing though I have anticipation coming back onto my computer. So whether it works or not, I have greater momentum now than I would have the other way around. Try it this week. You'll probably be happier and get more done.

Why does AI feel the need to tell us the feature will take 8-10 weeks? We know you can do it in the next 3-5 minutes 😂

A girl I went to high school with posts about how she only works a few hours a week from her phone and makes $10k+ per month. She's referred to 9-5ers as "slaves." Anyway, she just set up a GoFundMe for a $6k medical procedure for her dog.

@AnthonyVicino No idea why posts like this don't have thousands of likes... This is what entrepreneurs actually need to hear. Definitely want to give this a listen, thanks for being willing to share at this level. You're an inspiration.

About 15 months ago, I discovered one of my business partners had been lying to me. Fabricated financials... Company assets put into his personal name... Money moved out of the business without my knowledge... The truth came out slowly… and then all at once. And it was absolutely brutal. 6 months later, the whole thing (a real estate portfolio valued at ~$100M at its peak) came crashing down… And it wiped me out. I sued this partner, turned over everything I had uncovered to our other partners, and then… …and then I filed bankruptcy. I’ve been hiding out in the mountains, licking my wounds ever since… Trying to process the fallout and all the emotions. Betrayal… Anger… Shame… Guilt… Sadness… It’s been a wild ride, but I’m finally ready to come out of my cave and talk about it. I’m ready to build again. So, I just posted my first video to my main YT channel in over 18 months: I quit YouTube, lost millions, and filed bankruptcy…. Here’s what happened. If you’re in the middle of your own messy chapter, this one’s for you. Let me know if you want to check it out and I’ll get ya the link.

I would definitely not delete it. Looking at it logically from your entrepreneurial self, you know that it is a great asset. Just for the simple fact if and when you ever release a new product and want to put it on Product Hunt, for example, you're followers here will give you a big boost there. I also believe with your number of followers, that this is an excellent public-facing account for your Sabbath Ventures. I've been using one of many apps that are available to be able to lock yourself out and limit your time on social media. I happen to use an app called Stay Focused on Android. They even have a Chrome extension for desktop. Although I don't really use that. I allow myself 15 minutes each day on social media in between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. that's in and around when I eat supper and take a break. If I am trying to do something specific on social media for business, I go on to my desktop, and I actually have some convoluted passwords that are a pain in the butt too type in in order to make me log in. I've also noticed that when I find myself wasting time on social media, it usually means that I am not obsessed with a current development project. If I am developing a new product, I tend to not waste much time in my day. So that's kind of the "canary in the coal mine" for me. I realize I'm not developing something that I am passionate about if I am wasting time on social media, or wasting time on anything else for that matter. Lately, I've just been realizing the last few days that I have not given podcasts and certain YouTube channels the justice they deserve. So I am going to be looking for certain podcasts and YouTube channels for business and personal use that I will regularly visit. I also have tons of books that I want to read. I feel that will be a much better use of my time than social media or TV. These past couple weeks, I've also been thinking of starting a Substack because I realize my true passion, as far as social media goes, is writing long-format essays about business and self-improvement. I will also try to do short format videos, but I really don't know if I am into that anymore. I've also spent a little bit of time wood carving, trying to learn acoustic guitar and playing chess. So I want to do more of that. In summary, if I can relate what I hear you saying based on what I sometimes feel, I think you are just frustrated with yourself in this regard to social media. I would not get rid of your account. You can use this situation to reevaluate how you are using your time, somewhat how I outlined in this comment. It is taking me some effort sometimes to stay focused, but I think this is actually a blessing disguise for me to have to understand that I was wasting time on social media sometimes. It showed me that, not only can I stop wasting time on social media, but also fill that time with other meaningful things that I want to do.
