@AZ_CactusCat @DerrickEvans4WV Give me a break. War with Mexico.
English

@DerrickEvans4WV Another reason for WAR w/Mexico along with illegal immigration, drug trafficking etc.....

@FrBradSweet @RorateCaeli @holysmoke Yes of course, I believe this attack to their reputation and good name is defamatory and it will cause grave scandal among the faithful.
Also, I don't understand what are your intentions with these comments and wonder if it's so bad, why do you continue associating with them?
English

@RorateCaeli @holysmoke To many in FSSP it is fundamental.
English

@FrBradSweet @holysmoke That it exists is one thing. It exists everywhere. That it's something fundamental or essential is something else.

@uxixu @edhauschild Where do you think I spent the first 10 years of my priesthood. 3 parishes far from the city so remote there was no village. When I celebrated an EF Requiem Mass at home and it was mentioned by Rorate Caeli bishop was furious. So trust me I have been through all that. Many have.
English

That's true. There are a few layers to this, though. Original post from Richard was about tradition minded men. Unless they can compartmentalize and turn that off fior awhile, they just won't make it through a seminary like Los Angeles or Chicago. They'll be identified and marked and given an offer they can't refuse (usually to voluntarily quit in exchange for a job or booted with nothing).
Those able to turn it off will be relentlessly wore down. They can't even turn it on after ordination (I've seen the 70s pastor give negative reviews to young vocations and that tends to haunt them in the next assignment). I saw one really good young priest (and a good confessor) get a series of miserable and remote assignments assaulted on all sides until he called uncle and requested laicization. He wouldn't have liked going to the other side of country, either, though couldn't have been much worse than his situation here.
English

I understand this viewpoint, but I disagree: I had a choice when discerning the priesthood - a traditional institute or my home diocese. I felt drawn to the FSSP, and yet I looked back over my shoulder at the people I grew up with... /1

@RorateCaeli The last place a tradition-minded young man with a vocation should turn is to a local diocese. Go to SSPX, FSSP, ICK, or anywhere there is genuine attachment to the True Catholic faith.
English

@uxixu @edhauschild Not everyone is called to community life and can't live that way. I agree with Fr here, suffer through and pray for the day TC is lifted and the EF is celebrated again in the parishes.
English

@edhauschild OTOH, saw too many vocations lost to the institutional inertia of the Card Mahonys who would have made fine priests in the FSSP or ICRSS.

@JamesMartinSJ @americamag @StephenAtHome @marykarrlit @AntheaButler @JimGaffigan @Spotify Couldn't imagine wasting 1 minute of time listening to your guests. Not 1 of them holds any opinions that would uplift or edify.
Why not interview those who uphold Catholic teaching. Why not, you yourself, uphold Catholic teaching?

@AntiTrumpCanada This man should not be allowed into Canada for the G7. He doesn't have even the smallest understanding of the medical system in the provinces. And his constant diatribe about Canada feeding off the USA is just stupid. It's going to be a long 4 years.

@FrBradSweet A Thanksgiving prayer please, Fr. Sweet. My son William age 20 survived after a 4x4 lifted truck rammed the front of his car yesterday.
Too close for comfort.
Thank you too, Guardian Angels!

@JeremyTate41 Notre-Dame de Montréal is a work of the Fathers of St Sulpice not the diocese or local priests.
English

@kennedyhall @JeremyTate41 Not all of them. Can't generalise!
😁🙏
English

@JeremyTate41 Hold on, the average Canadian Catholic did not commission or design these.
It is the job of bishops and priests to have churches built.
Canadians did not go insane more than any other people, but our bishops and priests certainly took a wrong turn.
