More like the clergy of Catholic Twitter have decided not to be synodal and listen to a prominent lay theologian who gently guided them for being afraid to preach on hell

Something that's being lost in today's Catholic Twitter debate is that even if an individual priest DID decide to preach on hell, that can really only happen after he's been in a place for a period long enough to build a good rapport with his people.

Just thinking back over the first half, these are games I wish the Bucs had back. 4/12 vs. Chicago, blew a 5-0 lead. 4/18 vs. Tampa Bay, up 4-0 with Skenes cruising, and rain came. Cam Sanders blows up, and Marcel Ozuna can't lean into one with the bases loaded in extras.

Baseball is weird because the best team very often does not win the World Series. This is why the "But baseball has the most parity!" argument flies out the window. No, baseball has the most random postseasons. It doesn't have the most parity.

Keep him up and start using Mlod as a normal reliever? They aren't trading for four guys. Improvement is going to mostly be internal with Santana and Mattson pitching better, and maybe some help from AAA. I think Curtis earned a longer look today.

Wow. Khristian Curtis making GMBC & Don Kelly look like geniuses. Gets put on #Pirates 40-man & called up for DH. Comes in in 2nd inning of a bullpen game, making ML debut. Has put up 3 scoreless & just struck out the side in the fourth. Damn, that’s awesome. 3-0 Bucs, t5.

@FrPBehm I missed the debate, but is the issue just semantic disagreement over what it means to preach "on" something? E.g., I mention hell in homilies and have given homilies where I spend a lot of time talking about hell, but my point is to announce the good news of salvation from hell.

Maybe @MLB could mandate that if a particular owner didn't get his team in the postseason in say, 10 years, he/she would be forced to sell. Not likely, but I could dream, couldn't I?

@FrPBehm The parity doesn't come from every team having the ability to win the World Series, it's just that the nature of baseball makes upsets very common.

It's really no one else's business what anyone does for a penance. Our Lord is quite clear about this. "Do not let your left hand know what your right is doing. When you fast, do not put on a gloomy face like the hypocrites." Also, the tax collector and the publican.

Can’t decide which is worse. A Catholic account with 128,000 followers brazenly posting about eating meat on Fridays, the dozens of Catholic replies celebrating it, or the fact that I can’t find a single reply from a Catholic calling her out for it? We are so soft and weak.😔🥹

@FrPBehm It does have the most parity because the Angels (.388) can beat the Dodgers (.633) 13-5 and no one blinks. The Patriots don't get doubled up by the Jets.

@Osarseph0 If Mass is coming up, I usually give no advice. Just a penance, pray your act of contrition, and absolution. I'm not upset with you or anything like that. Just offering a gentle suggestion to leave spiritual questions out of the sacrament. Just, "I did X sin Y number of times."

@Osarseph0 Not really. Confession is for sins. I can't speak to your parish, but we offer a lot of confession times in mine (daily, sometimes multiple times on a given day) and our lines are long.

I asked a priest in confession about being dispensed from some scrupulous private vows I made and he basically told me that God is faithful to His promises, so we should try our best to fulfill what we promised. No commutation, no nothing. I’m not going to priest-shop to try to have this done, but I thought that was a thing?
