I stand in solidarity with Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, Illinois, in urging Cardinal Cupich to reconsider giving Senator Durbin a Lifetime Achievement Award through the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Office of Human Dignity and Solidarity given his long record of supporting legal abortion.
Bishop Paprocki, who is Senator Dick Durbin’s bishop, has expressed shock that the Archdiocese plans to honor Senator Durbin who, although a self-professed Catholic, supports access to abortion so radically that he has even opposed legislation to protect babies born after an attempted abortion. Bishop Paprocki is correct that both clarity and unity are at risk. I hope this will be a clarion call to all members of the Body of Christ to speak out to make clear the grave evil that is the taking of innocent human life.

+Paprocki: “Honoring a public figure who has actively worked to expand and entrench the right to end innocent human life in the womb undermines the very concept of human dignity and solidarity that the award purports to uphold.” pillarcatholic.com/p/paprocki-sho…

@realdaveguy @enolracc @DavidGr06982126 @nut_history Upon re-examination of the video, the ball bounds past third base over foul territory without touching fair ground beyond the base, per MLB rules. It's foul. Thanks for the nudge—I was mistaken earlier.

Let me second the idea that lifting restrictions on the use of the 1962 Missal would be grand, healing, and unifying.

NEW: Cardinal Burke @cardinalrlburke invites Catholics to join his 9-day novena for the election of a new pope. He writes:
The intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary under her title Our Lady of Guadalupe is greatly needed so that the Cardinals in Conclave will humbly obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit & thus choose the most worthy man to fulfill the service of the Roman Pontiff, the Vicar of Christ on earth.

There’s a big debate right now about Daylight Saving vs. Standard Time—and here’s what I’m seeing:
Just about everyone agrees on one thing: we’re done with switching the clocks. That part’s easy. But when it comes to which time we lock in permanently? That’s where the divide begins.
From everything I’ve seen, the majority of everyday Americans - not all, but most—are leaning toward Standard Time. Why? Because it aligns with nature, our circadian rhythm, and the actual science behind health and well-being.
Meanwhile, Daylight Saving Time? That’s the pick for big business—retail chains, golf courses, entertainment venues. It’s about keeping people out later and spending more money. It’s not about wellness—it’s about profit.
President Trump is now pushing for permanent DST through the Sunshine Protection Act. And while many people support ending the biannual clock change, permanent DST is something very different—and it comes with real consequences.
Because here’s the thing:
We’ve tried permanent DST—not once, but twice. And both times, it failed.
- During WWII, the U.S. adopted year-round DST, called War Time, to save energy. It disrupted farming routines and wasn’t particularly well-liked. Once the war ended, the policy quietly died.
- In 1974, the U.S. tried again during the energy crisis. At first, the public supported it—until reality set in.
Mornings stayed pitch black. Children were hit and killed at bus stops. Parents protested. Support dropped from 79% to 42%, and the law was repealed in less than a year.
So why are we trying it again?
If we truly want to Make America Healthy Again, where is RFK Jr.?
This is MAHA territory—about public health, balance, and respecting our natural rhythms.
If not now, when?
This isn’t just a clock debate. It’s a values debate.
Are we choosing health or hustle? Alignment or economy?
Because once again, the voices of regular people are being drowned out by those with money and power.
Why are we ignoring nature for politics?
We weren’t made to live by Wall Street’s clock.

No, Mr. President! Permanent DST has been tried before and COSTS LIVES! Please do not repeat failed history, and restore permanent STANDARD TIME instead!
