@Truth_matters20 Baptisms in cases such as this are simultaneously fearful and beautiful! This short video clip has a most profound and meaningful effect on me these days. I’ve only been faced with such dire needs several times in my years of priesthood; heart wrenching.

Superficial rituals have no effect on anybody, including babies. That's exactly why Jesus said you must be born again. The inner-man needs cleansing, not the outer, and that comes through faith in Jesus.

@OrthodoxHistory I was born & raised as a kid in Romania during communism. My family fled and I was raised in Sweden & Canada as a teen & young adult. My father is a priest so I grew up active in the Church but what kept me in love with the Lord & His Church was the daily family prayer & Psalms.

If you're a cradle Orthodox (I know, a very small minority on here), what kept you in the Church? (Also, what country do you live in?)
I'll go first: I'm in the USA, and I think the biggest factor for me was my relationship with Bishop Basil of Wichita, who was a very dear mentor to me at a pivotal time in my adolescence. (I wrote about this several years ago; link below.)
I'd love to hear from fellow cradle Orthodox.
